Introduction
This was the final episode recap on this unique, elaborate, and intriguing true Chinese time travel drama. In the second part, The Company: Recap Episodes 10 to 20, the episode ends with the Republican era arc, the Liubo Chess set. That’s why I use the featured image showing the protagonists in that thrilling era setting. In fact, the first featured image shows Bi Zhi and Su Beilu in Ya She shop in modern day setting, the second part in the time-rift setting, and the final part in the Republican era setting. Unfortunately, there is no fourth part; if not, I will use an image taken from the final episode, in the era where Qin Ziyi lived.
I completely enjoyed Bi Zhi and Su Beilu’s friendship that transcends time and space. A genuine connection can overcome even the most profound barriers.

Now we already met everyone on the top part of the chart. Below Beilu was Zhao Wanli, who was supposedly the painter of the item in search; under his image was Madam Ran, a tavern owner. Gu Zhiqian, below Bi Zhi, was the original painter. On his left was the dancer Weiwei, whom the painter loved. Left to Bi Zhi was Ye Liangyin, the second Female Lead.
Episode 21
Whew, I thought the drama turned out to be a murder mystery game to seek who-dunnit. It turned out that it still adhered to the drama themes of atonement and living well to continue a legacy. The guests declined the winning money, despite Elder Yu offering everyone the chance to get the winning prize. They only attend the invitation to visit Elder Yu and check on his well-being. They also planned to visit Xiuyun’s grave together. Finally, Elder Yu offered a heartfelt apology for his misunderstanding and the accusations the previous night. He presented the Liubo Chess set to Bi Zhi. Beilu’s wound turned out not to be serious and just needed a few stitches. Bi Zhi and Beilu departed early, but not without a suspicious gaze toward Aning.
After the visitation to Xiuyun’s grave, Elder Yu, his grandson, and the rest of the guests prepared to leave. When Elder Yu prepared to leave, a young woman approached him. She introduced herself as Cao A Ning, Butler Li’s niece. She said she was late because her identity had been stolen. Furthermore, she obtained another copy and informed her uncle. Elder Yu and Chongyang were shocked because there was a woman impersonating the real A Ning. I knew it!
Beilu was treated in the modern hospital, thank goodness, I was afraid he had to be hospitalized in the Republican era hospital. Because of that, they couldn’t attend the Cold Food Festival or the Hanshi Festival (寒食节). Miao Tong was very disappointed by Bi Zhi and Beilu’s absence, so her ever-loyal guard Chu Qiu made her a swing, because she always dreamed about her childhood, including playing on the swing. She was so happy with him pushing her that I low-key shipped the two. So cute!
Someone else was also reminded of his childhood. Bi Zhi bought Bei Lu ice cream after his wound was stitched. Bei Lu only got ice cream from his parents when he was exceptionally well-behaved. Bi Zhi, Bei Lu, Mr. Dong, Chun Ge, and Xiao Min had hotpot together. Bi Zhi felt exceptionally happy because these gatherings filled his home with a warmth he hadn’t felt in a long time.
The next day, after a night of celebration, Beilu cleaned up the mess made by their pup and found the book of the next coordinates of the last artifact. He was surprised that Bi Zhi didn’t inform him. He thought Bi Zhi was just being considerate because of his wound. However, it seemed Bi Zhi intentionally delaying the last mission, because he didn’t want to part with Beilu and the others. Awww…
The last mission was quite clear. They had to find someone named Zhao Wanli, who lived in Youran Pavilion, with address of Youlan Alley, during Chunxing era. Sounded easy, right? The item was “Autumn Twilight Painting” on Liangzhu Silk. Unfortunately, this painter not only said he didn’t have the so-called painting, but was very uncooperative, hostile, and drunk.
Bizhi wanted to return to Ya She (remember, he wanted to delay this last mission!), but Beilu had another idea. The next day, they went to look for Madam Ran and paid Wanli’s remaining debt. He was a regular at her tavern. She told the two what she knew about him. He was a talented and proud man who vowed not to marry until he passed the imperial examinations. However, he repeatedly failed, which made him depressed.
Episode 22
Bi Zhi and Beilu bought all Wanli’s favorite liquor, so when he came to the tavern, they were all sold out, unless he answered their questions. He reluctantly agreed, and in order for Bi Zhi and Beilu not to cheat him, he set rules that one pot of liquor was for each question. Moreover, they also had to drink, so they wouldn’t trick him once he got drunk.
Well, the result of this drinking challenge was: nothing. The thing was that the painting was historical, and Beilu knew the original painter was named Gu Zhiqian, and he lived one century apart from Zhao Wanli. I knew it, because Qin Ziyi once owned it, and it was scattered to another era. And once Wanli was drunk, Bi Zhi and Beilu couldn’t distinguish if he spoke cryptically or if he was drunk.
Bi Zhi and Beilu decided to time-travel further back, 100 years ago, to the time when Gu Zhiqian was still alive. The Gu family was supposedly rich and famous. Gu Zhiqian himself was the typical spoiled young nobleman. However, they arrived in a dilapidated house. Inside, the so-called young and spoiled nobleman Gu Zhiqian was sleeping, looking unkept. In front of him, the finished painting they were looking for. The painting was finished, but they wondered why Zhao Wanli’s copy was only half-finished.
Since they couldn’t figure out what happened to Gu Zhiqian, they time-traveled even further back, 12 years prior to their last visit. At this time, the Gu Family was still flourishing. The young nobleman was on a leisure boat with his friends to celebrate his birthday, but he was busy painting. In front of them was a dancing performance, and one of the dancers was a beautiful courtesan named Weiwei. In fact, Zhiqian tried to escape from an arranged marriage. His mother was busy with prominent families to select a bride when, suddenly, his father burst in angrily after finding out that Zhiqian had ditched school and sent his servants to school in his stead. When Zhiqian tried to run away, he accidentally caused Weiwei to fall into the water, whom he rescued later. This caused their romance to bloom.
At this time, the palace politics in this era were not good. Zhiqian’s father hoped that his son could pass the imperial exam to secure their family’s future. Soon, when Zhiqian was painting Weiwei at the lake, devastating news came from home that his father had been killed on the way to the Capital. Zhiqian’s mother revealed that his death must have been connected with the palace political turmoil. Friends and acquaintances avoided him when he sought help, but only Weiwei comforted him. Things went worse, his family’s wealth was confiscated, and his mother committed suicide to save her son’s life. Since then, Zhiqian studied hard for the exam, but failed every time. He returned to find Weiwei, but the brothel boss told him that Weiwei killed herself after Zhiqian abandoned him. He returned to his dilapidated home and passed out from grief.
It was this time when Bi Zhi and Beilu entered his home twelve years later. The painting in front of him, “Autumn Twilight Painting” was the painting he hadn’t finished for Weiwei. When Zhiqian woke up, he saw a painting of wild geese magically appear on the canvas. After understanding what happened, Bi Zhi and Beilu returned to find Zhiqian. They stated their intention to buy the painting at a high price, but Zhiqian refused to sell it. When they bade him farewell, Zhiqian saw that they dressed as scholars. Zhiqian offered them a temporary stay since they were fellow scholars studying for the imperial exam. Bi Zhi and Beilu used Zhiqian’s misunderstanding to stay with him, in the hope that eventually he would let go of the painting. However, Zhiqian was obsessed with studying, so he drilled the two with poetry and such. Lol, in their life, they had to go back to studying. He went into their room, every time reciting poetry. This drove Beilu, who never studied this hard in his life, crazy.
The Farewell
Episode 23
Because Beilu couldn’t sleep, he looked out and saw that Zhiqian had turned off his light. Curious, because Zhiqian was supposed to study all night long, they took a peek at him. They found out that he was talking to himself, as if he talked to an invisible person in front of him. To their surprise, the painting began to move on its own! Bi Zhi realized that Zhiqian was collaborating across time with Zhao Wanli!
Gu Zhiqian and Zhao Wanli became friends and encouraged each other. Deeply touched by Zhiqian’s regrets, Wanli realized he could not repeat the same mistakes. So, Zhao Wanli finished “Autumn Twilight Painting” for Gu Zhiqian, and Gu Zhiqian painted another painting for him called “An Autumn Gift to a Friend” with Wanli’s image (so Zhiqian did see him), and Zhiqian signature. The painting magically appeared in his studio. Later, when Bi Zhi and Beilu visited Wanli again and acknowledged that what he said before, that he was Zhiqian’s long-time friend, was true. Bi Zhi said that the Liangzhu Silk used as the canvas for “Autumn Twilight Painting” belonged to his deceased friend. Wanli then gave the painting to him, as he was happy enough to keep Zhiqian’s personal gift to him. Bi Zhi and Beilu gave Madam Ran a lot of money, enough for her to renovate the tavern and have a happy life with Wanli.
After the last artifact was retrieved, Bi Zhi was about to leave, but he couldn’t say goodbye to Beilu. Suddenly, Beilu burst in and invited him for a beach outing with Chun Ge, Xiao Min, and Mr. Dong.
Meanwhile, in the year of 3089, an auctioneer named Ye Liangyin was ready for an auction at Fusheng Hall, to sell a precious Dushan Jade. She was A Ning, whom we saw in the Liubo Chess set arc last time!
Episode 24
There was a beach volleyball match, and Beilu’s team won, thanks to Bi Zhi, who made a significant contribution with his height. Later, they stayed at Madam Lin’s cottage, an artist. Bi Zhi and Beilu sat by the beach to enjoy the evening. Beilu reflected on his childhood; his grandmother was always busy working, so she didn’t have a chance to take him to the beach. Beilu wished that he could love and care for his grandmother better, but of course, it was too late; his grandmother had passed away. When, in turn, Beilu asked Bi Zhi’s wish, he said his wish was to collect the artifacts. However, since Bi Zhi accomplished the mission, Beilu said there must be a new wish. Bi Zhi said he thought of a new one, but didn’t want to tell Beilu. I could guess that Bi Zhi’s wish was to see Beilu again in the future.
The next day, the group left the cottage, and Madam Lin gave a souvenir, the group painting. Beilu secretly knew that Bi Zhi’s mission was over, so he meticulously cleaned Ya She. Their parting conversation was so sad yet heartwarming. Beilu considered the friendship they made was his own gift to Bi Zhi, hoping the memories of the twenty-first century would bring him happiness. Bi Zhi gave him a letter to read after Beilu left. After Beilu left, Ya She turned into an abandoned building. Beilu read a letter in which Bi Zhi apologized and explained what happened back in 2005. While in Huayang to recover the Dushan Jade, which was stolen, Bi Zhi had pursued the thieves’ vehicle in a high-speed chase. He found out later that the car he was chasing was the one that struck and killed Beilu’s parents. Bi Zhi felt guilty; if he hadn’t been in pursuit, the collision would never happened. Since his mission was done, he promised he wouldn’t time-travel again, thus Ya She was sealed forever.
Beilu told everyone that Bi Zhi, his former boss, had moved out of Ya She to return to his hometown. Two weeks later, life got better for Beilu. When he visited his former colleagues at the pet hospital, the hospital was very busy. Dr. Tang encouraged him to reapply. Beilu went to see Mr. Bao, the hospital manager, apologized for his past mistakes, and asked to be rehired. Seeing his sincerity and that Beilu seemed to have changed, Mr. Bao gave him a 3-month probation chance with 80% of the old salary. Moreover, his previous landlady contacted him since the old apartment was still vacant. She even allowed Beilu to bring his pup Tuanzi.
Episode 25
Back in the future, Bi Zhi was missing Beilu. He remembered his friend’s regret and wish for his grandmother. Bi Zhi decided to time-travel again, this time to 2007, where little Beilu was still living with his grandmother. Bi Zhi wanted his friend find closure and fulfill his wish of seeing his grandmother again.
At this time, little Beilu was full of dissatisfaction that his grandmother couldn’t provide cool stuff like his classmates had, and he was embarrassed by his grandma’s outdated and modest stuff. It was then that Bi Zhi appeared. His towering presence intimidated the little Beilu. He thought this foreign guy was a kidnapper, lol, and ran to find his grandmother. Bi Zhi introduced himself as the son of Grandma’s cousin, Chen Fengwen. Bi Zhi claimed that he was in town for a business trip, so Grandma invited him to stay.
Bizhi intentionally praised Grandma’s homemade pizza, which Beilu despised earlier. Because he knew that little Beilu was unhappy, he told the little boy that he would grant Beilu three wishes.
For his first wish, Beilu asked for a new jump rope for his PE exam. Before, he had a homemade jumprope which caused him fail the exam. Bi Zhi took him to buy a high-end rope and treated him to a day at the arcade and some kebabs, making the little boy happier than he had ever been.
For his next wish, Beilu asked Bi Zhi to attend his parent-teacher meeting. Until now, only Grandma had ever shown up, and the kids made fun of him being an orphan. Bi Zhi agreed, and he dressed for success and identified himself as an overseas engineer. Beilu’s ‘uncle’ became the envy of the students; even the teacher was impressed. Bi Zhi also gave Beilu an important lesson to cherish his friends, for example, the little Chun Ge, who back then was a crybaby.
Bi Zhi also helped Grandma modernize the inventory of her little shop, so many people liked to buy at her shop. For his gratitude to Grandma, Beilu gave her a drawing he made, with Grandma and himself. Bi Zhi framed the painting.
For his third wish, Beilu asked if Grandma could live to be 100. This was a wish Bizhi couldn’t fulfill. Bi Zhi explained that life and death are beyond control, and Beilu should cherish his time with Grandma every day.
Instead of the third wish, Bizhi taught Beilu to swim in the ocean. While watching his happy grandson playing in the ocean, Grandma revealed to Bi Zhi that she knew Bi Zhi was not her cousin’s son, because the man couldn’t speak Chinese. Grandma felt that Bi Zhi was a gift from time to heal her grandson. Bi Zhi assured that her grandson would grow to be a fine young man. When they finally parted, Bi Zhi and Beilu made a pinky promise that they would meet again.
Back in the present time, Beilu was busy moving back into his apartment. While unpacking, he found the framed painting of Grandma and him. Suddenly, the memory of ‘Uncle’ surged back in, and Beilu remembered the whole time his little self spent with Bi Zhi! He was so overwhelmed and ran towards the sea to say thank you to Bi Zhi that he had ‘fixed’ Beilu’s childhood; he had cherished his time with his grandmother.

Episode 26
Since he closed Ya She, Bi Zhi gave all the treasures he claimed to Miao Tong. So, I had a misunderstanding that he had given them to her already. These artifacts, which possessed abnormal energy, belonged in the Tianguang Market rather than scattered across the wrong eras. Apparently, Bi Zhi didn’t know her real name but just called her “Market Lord”. However, she didn’t want to reveal her name. Since he wouldn’t come back to visit Tianguang Market for exchanges with coordinates, he gave her his final gift, which was a silver chain to replace the worn red string on her longevity lock, which actually contained her past story. Before his departure, Miao Tong and Chu Qiu discussed the Dushan Jade. This was a mysterious heirloom connected to Qin Ziyu. After his death, this Jade disappeared, only showing up briefly in 2005 (when Bi Zhi chased after it, and the collision between the thieves and Beilu’s parents happened), and now it would be auctioned in the prestigious auction house Fusheng Hall in Bi Zhi’s own era. This Dushan Jade was brought by Qin Ziyu’s trusted maid to present it to an official who could help him. However, on her way, she was robbed and killed and the Jade disappeared.

Bi Zhi’s apartment
When Bi Zhi visited Fusheng Hall. At first, the rep denied that the auction house had the Dushan Jade. Later, after he showed them the money, aka his vast assets, to pass a rigorous financial background check, the rep showed him their undisclosed collection. Of course, one of them was the Dushan Jade. However, he lacked the high-level VIP status for viewing. The rep suggested that he look for other items. While browsing the virtual catalogue, Bi Zhi noticed an item familiar to him: the Coiled Dragon Bronze Tripod Cauldron, which belonged to Elder Yu from the Republican era!
Bi Zhi thought it couldn’t be incidental, so he decided to investigate by time-traveling again back to the Republican era to meet the singer Wu Yunong. She informed him that Elder Yu had passed away a year ago when a landslide caused by an earthquake crushed his gallery. His grandson, Chongyang, had been taken in by Pan Jingting, the textile magnate. However, when Bi Zhi visited Elder Pan, he was informed that Chongyang had passed away months ago. Elder Pan claimed that Chongyang had succumbed to a mysterious illness, constantly screaming about ghosts. Elder Pan also restored some of Elder Yu’s collection that they could saved, but he didn’t see the Coiled Dragon Bronze Tripod Cauldron.
Bi Zhi was suspicious of foul play, so he time-traveled three months earlier to see Chongyang. Chongyang told him what happened back then before his grandfather died. Chongyang saw shadows and his grandfather lying on the floor. Also, that female housekeeper, A Ning, was an impostor who vanished just before the real Chao A Ning appeared. Bi Zhi was suspicious that Chongyang had been intentionally killed, because he might be a witness to the foul play.
When Bi Zhi returned to the 31st century and wanted to see the Coiled Dragon Bronze Tripod Cauldron, he found out that his membership status had been revoked following a background check because he had no prior trading history. To regain entry, he claimed he had “Autumn Twilight Painting” by Gu Zhiqian, because he knew the auction company already held the summer and winter pieces (“The Summer Cooling” and “The Winter Chill” paintings) of the set, and was looking for the others to complete the collection called Siji (Four Seasons) Scroll.
Meanwhile, the A Ning lookalike, whose real name was Ye Liangyin, got a tip that the intel found the spring piece of the set, “Spring Stream Painting”. The location? It was in Ninghai City, Haidong Province, in 2025. The owner? It was Mr. Dong!!! So she went to that time and place and introduced herself as a chief auctioneer. Mr. Dong was so excited. He wanted to show her that he was a top antique collector. He asked Chun Ge to pose as his butler, Xiao Min as his fan, and Madam Lin (that beach artist) to secretly draw his meeting with Ye Liangyin in his private gallery.
Episode 27
Liangyin managed to find “Spring Stream Painting” among Mr. Dong’s collection. But she couldn’t buy the painting from Mr. Dong, even if the man didn’t know he owned such a treasure. In history, Mr. Dong never sold that painting. If she bought the painting, she would alert the history, and it would alert TSA. So she played dirty by making her henchmen (“the black shadows” Chongyang saw at his grandfather’s gallery) break the water pipe, so Mr. Dong’s collection was ruined. The Fushengtang people stole the painting and replaced it with a fake one.
However, yesterday, when she was about to leave Mr. Dong’s gallery, she incidentally saw Su Beilu, who had gone to visit Mr. Dong. She knew that the young man was a mysterious character, since he didn’t have any connection to Elder Yu. She also got the info that someone named Bi Zhi had the “Autumn Twilight Painting”. Bi Zhi offered it on purpose because he was suspicious that the auction company was responsible for the deaths of Qin Ziyi, Elder Yu, and Chongyang.
Bi Zhi met Ye Liangyin, and he recognized her right away as the fake A Ning whom Chongyang told him about. Liangyin coldly said that his painting was fake. Bi Zhi learned that Ye Liangyin could time-travel freely, so he was even more suspicious that those deaths were related to her. Liangyin shot him with a 31st-century gun. Bi Zhi pretended to be dead and took the chance to jump into the water and escape. Remember, he had the protective shield given by Miao Tong.
Bi Zhi ran away straight to Ya She and time-traveled to Tianguang Market. Miao Tong insisted on saving him. Chu Qiu observed that the wound was caused by a weapon from Bi Zhi’s era. He didn’t want the Market to be implicated, so he went to report it to TSA. At the same time, Ye Liangyin found the abandoned Ya She, but the coordinates for the last time travel destination were garbled. Ye Liangyin knew that Beilu went with Bi Zhi to see Elder Yu last time, so she time-traveled to 2025 and pretended to be a customer at the pet hospital, bringing… creepily… a snake! She pretended to be Bi Zhi’s friend and was looking for him. Liangyin even wore the Ring of Truth to make Beilu say true things and hid a syringe weapon behind her back. Beilu honestly said he didn’t know where Bi Zhi was, so Liangyin left.
Actually, Beilu saw through the mirror that Liangyin was holding a syringe behind her back. She meant to harm him. When she touched his back with her hand (which was wearing the Ring of Truth), he also felt creepy. At home, Beilu thought it through and concluded that Liangyin was lying. Bi Zhi didn’t seem to recognize her when they were at Elder Yu’s mansion. Beilu realized that Bi Zhi must be in danger! Since he didn’t know how to time-travel, and Ya She was already abandoned, Beily concluded that the only ones who knew Bi Zhi and could help him were Tianguang Market Lord and Chu Qiu. He went to look for Lu Feng, who ended up at Tianguang Market in the past.

Episode 28
The Fusheng Hall’s owner, who was called Hall Master, was very angry at Liangyin when people from the TSA were tracking down their dirty deeds. She killed the rep, who handled Bi Zhi’s application to Fusheng Hall, because it was her mistake not have investigated Bi Zhi’s background clearly. This Liangyin was very cruel because of a colleague’s betrayal. She started working at this auction company eight years ago. Four years ago, she was promoted to a supervisor. Later, Liangyin time-travelled to 2005 to collect Dushan Jade. However, Shi Yi, the Head of Operation Unit, also appeared and stole the Jade from her. He was jealous of her promotion and pushed her down the cliff. She survived but her lost her left leg.
Now we were back to Bi Zhi, who finally woke up. He told Miao Tong everything, including the unjust death of Qin Ziyi, his maid, Elder Yu, and his grandson. She advised him to report it to TSA, but Bi Zhi didn’t have any evidence, just theories. Besides, the Fusheng Hall was powerful, with manpower, weapons, and a time elevator.
Bi Zhi saw Miao Tong wearing the silver necklace he gifted her last time and knew the lock meant everything to her. He sensed she didn’t want to live here, so he told her he would help her to get out of Tianguang Market and protect her. Miao Tong then took him to a secret room and told him her story. By then, Bi Zhi knew her real name, Miao Tong, from Miao Village. One day, she followed her mother to the deep mountains rumored to be haunted. She accidentally fell off the cliffs near an ancient tomb, and when she woke up, she was in Tianguang Market. Miao Tong kept walking and ended up in the 31st century, and met Chu Qiu.
Miao Tong told Chu Qiu what she saw in Tianguang Market, and Chu Qiu was surprised that she still had her memory of that place. He suspected the Market system malfunctioned, so he sent her back home. When she returned, an epidemic broke out in Miao Village. People said that because there was someone who intruded on the ancient tomb, causing the anger of the ancient gods. Miao Tong felt guilty and went back to the ancient tomb to ask for god’s mercy and met Chu Qiu again. Later, she found out Chu Qiu was not a deity at all, and the place after Tianguang Market was the 31st century. The TSA recognized Miao Tong’s exceptional ability and made her the ruler of the Tianguang Market. However, the rule was that she couldn’t leave the place until she was replaced. Bi Zhi offered to time-travel to Miao Village to visit her parents.
Meanwhile, in recent times, Beilu tried hard to find a way to enter the Tianguang Market again with the help of Lu Feng, but to no avail. Not until he saw a painting of the River of Oblivion, which was the river in Tianguang Market. Madam Lin said her senior in the art school painted it. Beilu begged Mr. Dong to take him to the place where Madam Lin’s senior hiked and accidentally found the place.
Episode 29
After the convo with Bi Zhi. Miao Tong was extremely unhappy with her condition and scolded Zhu Qiu when he returned, as he represented TSA. Suddenly, Ye Liangyin, with her henchmen, broke into Tianguang Market. She figured out, through the garbled coordinates, that Bi Zhi went to Tianguang Market, the place with no time. She used the Ring of Truth, so Miao Tong couldn’t lie. Liangyin already knew Miao Tong was a mere prisoner in Tianguang Market, so Liangyin provoked Miao Tong against TSA further by taking her to Miao Village and seeing that TSA had never saved the people. In truth, historically, the tribe perished, so TSA couldn’t change its fate. Miao Tong was even angrier when Chu Qiu explained that he could only save her because of her exceptional ability, and reasoned to TSA that she could be the Market owner. Liangyin promised to take Miao Tong back to the time when her parents were still alive. Miao Tong then revealed that Bi Zhi went to Miao Village to see her parents.
Luckily, Bi Zhi never left Tianguang Market and secretly observed the events that unfolded. I think Bi Zhi was afraid that if he time-traveled to Miao Village would alert the villains. Suddenly, Beilu showed up behind him. He explained he finally got into the Market through the back of the mountain. Since Beilu couldn’t leave through the time elevator and insisted of helping Bi Zhi as a trustworthy and capable friend, Bi Zhi devised a plan.
Remember that Bi Zhi suspected that Liangyin killed his friend Qin Ziyi? Let’s go to Ziyi’s time, to find out what actually happened.
Ziyi handed Dushan Jade to his trusted maid Caiwei, not to be given to Lord Sima, but to Bi Zhi. It turned out that Lord Sima had also become a traitor. In despair, Ziyi drank poisoned wine to commit suicide, after writing a heartfelt letter to Bi Zhi. Meanwhile, Bi Zhi time-traveled back just in time to rescue Caiwei, who was chased by Fusheng Hall people (the thieves who stole the Dushan Jade last time). However, since Liangyin knew someone had used the time elevator in Tianguang Market, she and her henchmen were in tow.
After Bi Zhi left to find Caiwei, Beilu also time-travelled to the Miao Village, to the time right before the epidemic, to find out what happened. He encountered Zhu Qiu, who investigated the epidemic. It turned out that the Fusheng Hall people looted the ancient tombs and poisoned the well to wipe out the tribe. At this time, Zhu Qiu didn’t know Beilu yet, so Beilu stated that he knew Zhu Qiu was from the TSA. The two witnessed the 31st century people poisoning a well of an ancient tribe. In anger, Zhu Qiu tried to stop them with Beilu’s help. Unfortunately, Beilu was stabbed.
Back with Bi Zhi, he and Caiwei, were stopped by Liangyin and her henchmen, and she brought Miao Tong as a hostage. Liangyin used the Ring of Truth to make the assassin, who was supposed to kill Ziyi that night, confess that he didn’t kill Ziyi, as when he showed up, Ziyi already drunk the poisoned wine. Bi Zhi and Caiwei were shocked, knowing that his best friend and her master committed suicide. Bi Zhi didn’t want Liangyin to get the Dushan Jade, so he threatened to destroy the Jade.
Episode 30
As Bizhi threatened Liangyin with Dushan Jade, Liangyin also threatened Bi Zhi with Mao Tong. They decided to trade hostages. When Bi Zhi and Miao Tong were close to each other, Miao Tong quickly snatched and pulled Bi Zhi to run away. However, they couldn’t go far with so many of Liangyin’s men surrounding them. Miao Tong was hit, and Bi Zhi tried to protect her. He was hit, too. Bi Zhi gave his protective suit to Beilu, so his wound didn’t heal right away. Bi Zhi asked her to buy time by begging Liangyin. Although Miao Tong didn’t understand what Bi Zhi was up to, she did it anyway.
The protective suit on Beilu turned out to be a savior, as he could shield Zhu Qiu, and they ran away. Although Beilu was hit, his wound healed quickly. As instructed by Bi Zhi during the planning, he searched TSA alarm who was with Zhu Qiu. That alarm was an emergency measure during danger, so TSA people would appear at the coordinate in an instant to save their colleague. Beilu then found the younger version of Miao Tong, who was about to fall off the cliff. He saved her and told her that Fengshan Hall was behind everything. He handed her the TSA alarm and instructed her to keep it safe, which was put inside her longevity lock, and to press it when the time was right. He also asked her to remember his face and Zhu Qiu’s, as they would meet again.
Back again in the other timeline, Miao Tong’s memory of what happened back then with Beilu’s intervention suddenly emerged. Miao Tong found the TSA alarm device in her longevity lock and understood right away that now was the right time to press the button. In an instant, the TSA people appeared in time and killed Liangyin and her henchmen. Bi Zhi passed out from the wound, but not after praising that Beilu had done a good job.
The rest of Fusheng Hall people were arrested, their illegal time elevator was confiscated, and their mess, which caused time distortion, was restored.
TSA took Beilu to the 31st century for an interrogation. We finally got to know what Bi Zhi’s grand plan was. When Beilu was asked why he did what Bi Zhi had told him, Beilu answered that he trusted Bi Zhi, and indirectly blamed TSA for its failure that Bi Zhi had gone alone looking for evidence against Fusheng Hall’s crimes. Beilu also said that Bi Zhi lied; he told Beilu there were two protective shields, but there was only one, given to Beilu while Bi Zhi sacrificed himself.
TSA informed Beilu that he would be sent back to his time, and his memory of the eras he went to, including the 31st century and Bi Zhi, would be erased. Beilu begged to see Bi Zhi one more time. Since Bi Zhi was currently in a coma, TSA sent Beilu time-traveling to the era of Qin Ziyi. Precisely, during the time Bi Zhi met Ziyi for the first time, after Ziyi became a City Lord. Beilu would pretend to be Ziyi.
Beilu, as Ziyi, knocked on Ya She and invited Bi Zhi to hang out with him. Bi Zhi, at this time, hadn’t known Beilu yet. They spent the day wandering the streets of Huai City and chatting. Beilu advised Bi Zhi to drink less, make more friends, and appreciate the small wonders of the world. Bi Zhi found Ziyi’s words and behavior slightly strange. For example, Beilu mentioned his “granny” which he quickly corrected as “grandmother”. Also, in the end, Beilu shook Bi Zhi’s hands instead of gongshou (拱手), stating that it was Bi Zhi’s form of etiquette.
Beilu was back in the present time for good. He woke up at the hospital. Xiaomin, who was watching for her, appeared to be a tomboy. Her father and mother were still alive, and Chun Ge looked more mature. We knew that TSA fixed his parents’ time of fate because their death was caused by Fusheng Hall’s crime of stealing the Jade. But nobody knew about Bi Zhi. Beilu was informed that he had been in an accident when riding a bike to work. Later, when Beilu went back to work, the hospital manager was still strict but caring. When he thought that Chun Ge and Xiaomin were lovebirds, they got angry. Beilu’s dad roamed around the antique market and met Mr. Dong, who was fanboying Madam Lin, the artist. When Beilu went home, his puppy was still called Tuanzi, but now he’s a Black Labrador instead of a Yellow one, lmao!
Miao Tong got her happy ending, too. We knew the Miao Village was poisoned by the Fusheng Hall people, so TSA fixed the time. The epidemic never happened. However, since Miao Tong still had all her memories, she ended up working for TSA. No longer as Tianguang Market Lord, but as a TSA commissioner, accompanying Chu Qiu, whose memories were erased because his duty in Tianguang Market is done. All he knew was what happened at the Miao Village. Miao Tong said they had plenty of time for her to tell him about Tianguang Market, and held his arm with affection. She said he used to be one who kept her company; now she would be the one who would stay with him. Awww! She told him that they would go to the year 2023, and they would enjoy boba tea.
One year later, Beilu obtained his veterinarian license on his first try (not three-times failures as before). On his birthday, he celebrated it with Chun Ge and Xiaomin. On the way home, Bi Zhi greeted him as a stranger and asked for a certain street name. Beilu did not recognize Bi Zhi at all, but instinctively he wanted to accompany him walking in the same direction.
In the post-credit scene, Bi Zhi ended up inviting Beilu to Ya She, his art shop. After stopping by, Bi Zhi invited him again to come by sometime. Beilu’s father was an art enthusiast, so Beilu asked for Bi Zhi’s contact number; maybe Bi Zhi could help his dad with the art selection. They would meet again!

Conclusion
I chose The Company (哑舍) to start the year 2026 because the time travel theme fits the festivity. As I finished it, I’m happy since I think it was a perfect decision. The drama teaches us about optimism in the face of life’s transitions. Despite witnessing the twists and turns and ups and downs of life, the protagonists, as well as the characters in every arc, ultimately learn to approach their own lives with a renewed sense of hope.
