Drama Recap Episodes 1 to 10

Episode 1

Prologue: Su Yi Shui led the sects fighting against his own master the demoness Mu Qing Ge. She swore that when she died the Wester Sect would perish with her.

Xue Ran Ran (the reincarnated Mu Qing Ge) runs a restaurant with the help of Xiao Cui. One night Xiao Cui is captured by the Scarlet Sect who is looking for the reincarnated Mu Qing Ge. Ran Ran tries to rescue her but she is chased by Wei Jiu, the Scarlet Sect leader. Suddenly a man in a black cloak and mask saves her. It’s Su Yi Shui. He recognizes her as the reincarnation right away, but Ran Ran doesn’t recognize Yi Shui. He finds out that she’s very weak, so he wants her to take in as his disciple. At first, she refuses, but for the sake of saving Xiao Cui and her grass friend Ling Xiao, she agrees. Yi Shui finds out she still has remnants of her power as Mu Qing Ge.

Ran Ran meets Yi Shui’s other disciples: Qiu Xi Er, Bai Bai Shan, and Gao Cang. The tea ceremony is hilarious. Somehow the heavens don’t like Ran Ran kneels and serves Yi Shui tea.

Episode 2

The other sect leaders guess that Mu Qing Ge has been reincarnated based on the anomaly of the Demon Detector. Yi Shui lies to the messengers that she hasn’t been born yet. The Eternal Sect members sneak in and attack Bai Bai Shan and Gao Cang. Ran Ran and Qiu Xi Er try to help them. Yi Shui shows up to stop the attack. He’s mad at Ran Ran though, because she’s weak yet she tries to fight the Eternal Sect members and sends her to recite mantras in Ice Lotus Pool.

Ran Ran sneaks into Yi Shui’s chamber to steal the Blood Chalcedony stone to heal Ling Xiao. She happens to find her pouch that was confiscated by Yi Shui last time. Yi Shui shows up to take a bath and finds Ran Ran. She lies that she wants to take her pouch back. Yi Shui recognizes it’s Su Yu’s pouch. She lies again that she’s in love with Su Yu, so the pouch gift is precious to her. Jealousy Mode activated! He gets drunk because Ran Ran’s wine was accidentally poured into his bath water. Ran Ran steals the stone and runs away, but she gets lost and enters Mu Qing Ge’s Palace. She read about the Burning Curse on Yi Shui and thinks that he needs her spiritual roots to undo the curse, so she decides to leave the Sect. Mu Qing Ge’s red robe suddenly is on her. Yi Shui, who’s still a bit tipsy, thinks she is Mu Qing Ge and tries to approach her. Swords suddenly fly from the sky targeting Yi Shui.

Ran Ran leaves Wester Mountain and is back to her normal life in Xue Village. No longer normal, though, since she prematurely ages and becomes weak. Wei Jiu tries to take her away but Yi Shui rescues her and takes her back to Wester Mountain. He calls Zeng Yi, a fellow disciple of Mu Qing Ge to examine Ran Ran.

I love the pretty Ice Lotus Pool in Wester Mountain I must put it here!

Episode 3

This episode introduces Su Yi Shui’s background and how he and Mu Qing Ge met. Su Yi Shui has been used by his father Prince Ping since little to gain power in the kingdom and compete with his brother Prince Zong (Su Yu’s father). Yi Shui is Prince Ping’s illegitimate son, his mother is a prostitute. Since Prince Ping planted Spiritual Spring into his body he has become cold and ruthless, using black magic for his father’s benefit. He wants to control Spiritual Spring and joins the Eternal Sect to gain more power.

Mu Qing Ge is unrestrained and loves to eat and drink. She meets Yi Shui when she saves a few noblemen whom he beat up. Yi Shui caught her eyes, not only is he good-looking, but he also had the same Five Spirit Roots as hers. She wants to make him her disciple. When Su Yu’s younger brother is abducted by Yi Shui, Qing Ge helps to find the child and meets Yi Shui disguised in a beard. He joins the Eternal Sect with the name of Su Chen.

The Flirt and The Bearded

Episode 4

Qing Ge finds Yi Shui and hands him to the Eternal Sect to be punished. She also finds Su Yu’s younger brother and she realizes Yi Shui doesn’t harm the boy. His father wants him to kill the boy but Yi Shui spares him. Qing Ge believes Yi Shui is a good person, so she disguises herself as the leader of the Eternal Sect and tricks him into being her disciple. She takes him back to Wester Mountain but he is not friendly to the other disciples and is rude to Qing Ge. She patiently and playfully teaches him to change his malevolent character. She teaches him to do good deeds and saves people.

The scene where an Earth Immortal casts Shadow Spell to Qing Ge and Yi Shui that causes them to move in unison is hilarious. Qing Ge gets hurt when shielding Yi Shui so he puts an ointment on her. Sparks fly.

Episode 5

Yi Shui starts developing compassion, especially when Qing Ge is sick from the wound to the point that she’s freezing. He puts a blanket on her and watches over her the whole night. I thought he would hug her to melt the ice!

Today is Yi Shui’s birthday so Qing Ge lets him have a day off while she visits Su Yu. From Su Yu, she learns about how Yi Shui has been ruined and controlled by his father. Qing Ge feels sorry for him and decides to change him for good. Yi Shui goes to his mother’s home but she turns him away. She sold him to his father before with a lot of money. Omg, did he burn down her house while he was leaving? He goes back to Mount Wester and Qing Ge welcomes him. She gives him birthday noodles and plants a tree, telling him when there is a tree in the house, the house turns into a home.

Yi Shui gets better and better in terms of his character, but he still has the Spiritual Spring that hinders his cultivation but he doesn’t want to tell Qing Ge. Su Yu builds the Consonance Palace for Qing Ge but there are two who don’t like the idea: Qing Ge’s sister Mu Ran Wu who’s desperately in love with Su Yu but Su Yu likes Qing Ge, and of course Yi Shui. Qing Ge lets Su Yu build the Palace and takes Yi Shui down the mountain to recruit more disciples. Enter Wei Jiu who wants to be her disciple but she rejects him because he’s not good-looking enough, lol. I think that might be the case why Wei Jiu hates Wester Sect?

“With a tree in front of a house, it’s not just a house but a home”

Episode 6

Prince Ping tries to control Yi Shui but fails, he finds out Mu Qing Ge has something to do with Yi Shui’s character change, so he wants to provoke their relationship. Meanwhile, the Eternal Sect watches the movement of the Demon Detector and searches for the Demon Child. Su Yu tells Qing Ge about this. While she looks for the Demon Child, she is trapped by Scarlet Sect led by Wei Jiu and injured. Yi Shui arrives and saves her. The piggybacking scene is always a must in romance drama! He can’t help but kiss her forehead while she’s asleep on his shoulder.

When they return to Wester Mountain the Consonance Palace is built. Not by Su Yu, but by Yi Shui, who kicks out Su Yu’s craftsmen and uses his craftsmen. Yi Shui argues that the Palace belongs to the Wester Sect, so the people from Wester Sect should know more about building their Palace. Su Yu tries to be cool about it and gifts Qing Ge a hairpin. The hairpin is the same as the payment his mother received from his father to buy little Yi Shui. So he’s angry and challenges Su Yu. Qing Ge comes to rescue Su Yu and Yi Shui is wounded. While healing him she discovers Spiritual Spring in Yi Shui’s body. She also sees in the Heavenly Book Yi Shui’s future and Spiritual Spring eventually devours him. She decides to force it out of Yi Shui’s body and ties him up. Yi Shui refuses to let it out because he thinks he can suppress it.

Episode 7

Ugh, I hate this whole episode, so I’ll just go through it fast. There is a masked man who helps Prince Ping to gain his power. He also stirs up Yi Shui’s emotions thinking that Qing Ge takes him as a disciple to control him for Su Yu’s sake. The masked man persuades Yi Shui to become a demon and leads a demonic army to fight everyone. Qing Ge lies that she is the Demon Child and fights Yi Shui to pull the Spiritual Spring away. When Su Yu hears about her sacrifice, he wants to clarify about Qing Ge and marry her after the battle is over. There is almost always a bitch in every romance drama, so here she is… Qing Ge’s sister, Mu Ran Wu, who falls for Su Yu, drugs him. She also tricks Yi Shui into joining forces to trap Qing Ge, together with the other sects. To protect her disciple, she takes on everything. When Yi Shui learns about the truth and her sacrifice, it’s too late. Qing Ge disappears, not after cursing Yi Shui with the Face-and-Heart Burning Curse, that Wester Sect would perish with her, and they won’t meet again for eternity.

So much that I love Deng Wei’s acting and crying for Qing Ge at the end of the episode, but I will put the picture of Mu Qing Ge in her pretty red dress. Since I don’t know when Mu Qing Ge will be back or if I ever see her again!

Tribute to the fiery Mu Qing Ge

Episode 8

Yi Shui goes to Jade Peak in Sky Mountain to take the Reincarnation Tree. He divides half of the Golden Core and a fraction of his soul to help Mu Qing Ge’s reincarnation. Awww, he put a fraction of his soul inside a grass that becomes Ran Ran’s friend Ling Xiao. He shields her appearance, so nobody will recognize her as Qing Ge, only his sect fellow Zeng Yi knows about it. But the annoying thing is, her bitchy sister Mu Ran Wu will also be reborn because during the showdown their souls are shattered and mixed together. During the convo between Yi Shui and the Deity of the Ice Lotus, he bargains if he can help her reincarnation and gain transcendence, too. To get two missions accomplished, he has to practice it without any emotion to get the power of Transcendence. Now we know why he is so cold and ruthless to Ran Ran!

Yi Shui and Zeng Yi find a Soul Devouring Lock inside her. The Lock devours her spiritual power. It’s placed inside her by her bitchy sister since she wanted to steal Qing Ge’s spiritual power back then. Zeng Yi can’t take it out because her heart is so weak. Mu Ran Wu will be reincarnated in a few months but Yi Shui can’t kill her either.

After gets better, Chef Ran Ran cooks for everyone. There is a dinner with everyone but Yi Shui refuses to eat with them. Every time he starts having emotion, his hands will freeze and he has to run to the Ice Lotus Pool to meditate. Ran Ran feels pity that Yi Shui is lonely.

Su Yi Shui’s hair becomes white during rigid seclusion. Deng Wei looks good in every costume/makeup!

Episode 9

Hahaha, is that Red-Flame Centipede blood an aphrodisiac?

Ran Ran feels pity on Yi Shui so she tries to do good to Yi Shui which results in hilarious moments. Her antics make Yi Shui more human and no longer cold. One moment when Ran Ran accompanies Yi Shui eating, accidentally she enters his sea of consciousness. He’s aware but not her, thinking that it belongs to her friend Ling Xiao. She sees a man in the cage, which is Yi Shui. Ran Ran doesn’t recognize him but feels close, thinking he is her dad. She confesses that she has a crush on her master, lol. She also breaks Yi Shui’s Face-and-Heart Burning Curse.

The birth of Mu Ran Wu is near. Yi Shui and Zeng Yi try to break the Soul Devouring Lock but still can’t Yi Shui says he has a plan to make Mu Ran Wu, Mu Qing Yi, because in her first life, Ran Wu coveted Qing Yi’s power anyway. In that case, nobody focuses on the real Qing Yi. He’s right because several parties get ready to welcome the birth of ‘Mu Qing Yi’, including the Scarlet Sect and Su Yu.

We and Yi Shui’s disciples also learn the history of that darn Spiritual Spring from Bai Bai Shan.

Ran Ran catches her Master stealing chicken from the kitchen.

Episode 10

While Yi Shui’s disciples are in the library, Ran Ran accidentally activates the Water Mirror and they witness the rebirth of ‘Mu Qing Ge’. All four major sects gather there and after rebirth, Ran Wu transforms into Qing Ge (a different actress) and enjoys the fame of Qing Ge, good or bad. Yi Shui pretends that the Face-and-Heart Burning Curse is not broken and lets ‘Qing Ge’ break the curse. While the leaders tell her not to cause problems anymore and she pretends to repent, Wei Jiu crashes the party and makes a scene. Wei Jiu sets up a blood array using Qing Ge’s blood before she vanishes. Yi Shui’s disciples want to help their Master and they’re teleported to the scene and accidentally break the array (not accidentally, because the real Qing Ge is there). Seeing Ran Ran’s power, Yi Shui takes advantage to use it to break the whole formation on ‘Qing Ge’ behalf. However, he soon takes off with his students and leaves ‘Qing Ge’ to be a disciple of the Eternal Sect.

Yi Shui and Zeng Yi discuss the event and further plan, while Ran Ran wonders about the Reincarnation Tree’s vine that rescues is the same as the vine Yi Shui gave her for protection. Yi Shui is full of tricks to Wei Jiu, making a soul oath so he won’t bother Qing Ge (the real one) anymore. Wei Jiu is angry and attacks Yi Shui and his disciples. Again, he’s targeting Ran Ran. Yi Shui is so angry that Ran Ran doesn’t care about her life and saves living being left and right. She asks about her origin, in connection to the Reincarnation Tree. He lies that she’s just a wandering soul who accidentally grew up in the Tree due to his experimenting the reincarnation. Ran Ran is sad that now she is just a fruit. Sweet Xi Er comes to console her.

I like the actress Ai Mi who played Qiu Xi Er as I have seen her in other dramas, but her characters always die.

Conclusion

Let’s continue Ran Ran’s journey to cultivation and to win her master’s heart in the second part of the article: Love of the Divine Tree: Drama Recap Episodes 11 to 25!
