Introduction

In Fated Hearts: Drama Recap Episodes 9 to 18, Episode 17 to be exact, Suige and Yixiao finally expressed their feelings toward each other, and they got together, sealed with a kiss.

I love power couples in romantic dramas! A power couple is a romantic pair who are both highly successful, influential, and confident individuals, often creating an “unstoppable” team. This can be shown through their combined achievements, how they support each other’s individual goals, or how their individual strengths complement one another, making them individually and collectively powerful.

In Fated Hearts ( 一笑随歌 ), although Yixiao pretty much started again from the bottom after she had amnesia and injured her hand, the Ling physicians did surgery on that hand in Episode 18, and now she was up and badass again. As a team-working couple, she and Suige were now pretty much unstoppable in taking down their enemies one by one, as we will see here in part 3!

Recap Episodes 19 to 28

Episode 19

Suige told Yixiao that the emperor was now ill, and the situation in the capital was unpredictable. He asked Yixiao to return to Zheng Nian Villa with Xueying and the three children. In a few days, PM Zhuang will act as the agent of the government. Suige was worried that PM Zhuang would be detrimental to Yixiao. Yixiao agreed, and they started packing. On the way, Yixiao secretly got off the carriage and disappeared. Yun Fang, who escorted them, reported the situation to Suige. Suige seemed to know something and asked Yun Fang and other subordinates to unify their statements. No matter who asked, they said that Yixiao and Xueying had gone to Zheng Nian Villa.

Fu Yixiao asked the name of the head of the carriage, Ru Yan. She walked into the dance room and found that the street scene was unobstructed from here. Fu Yixiao thot carefully and understood that Wu Ying must have been waiting for the maid of the dance room that day. Before returning to the First Prince’s Mansion, Fu Yixiao learned that there was a blacksmith shop next to the pharmacy. Feng Suige told Fu Yixiao that the emperor was now ill, and the situation in Yujing City was unpredictable. He hoped that Fu Yixiao and Ling Xueying would take the three children away. In a few days, Zhuang Shen will act as the agent of the government. Feng Suige is worried that Zhuang Shen will be detrimental to Fu Yixiao.

Remember when Yixiao saw a masked person inside the carriage? The carriage belonged to the dancer Ruyan. Yixiao wanted to trick Ruyan and brought her to the masked person. Yixiao made another mask and put it in Ruyan’s room. Ruyan panicked when she saw the mask, and Yixiao knocked her unconscious. Yixiao predicted the masked man wanted to kill Ruyan. Sure enough, the masked man used the token given by Jingshi to order the dead soldiers to kill Ruyan, but Yixiao subdued them. However, Ruyan still didn’t want to reveal the masked man’s identity. Yixiao used a sniffing dog to track the carriage. It led her to… the Murong Mansion! Her hunch was right. Murong Yao was not to be trusted. Because he was the masked man who colluded with Jingshi on the night after the battle!

Yixiao exposed Yao’s identity and confronted him. However, Yao was very arrogant. He said that once she told Suige his true identity, his people put in the palace would kill the emperor. At that time, Suige would not only suffer pain from losing his father, but also from losing everything he had. If she didn’t tell Suige, Yao would spare Suige’s life. Yixiao weighed the pros and the cons, and finally did not act impulsively.

Meanwhile, Suige sent Song Cheng from his Feng Battalion to investigate the death soldiers, and discovered that the target was to kill Hou Jing, the Minister of War. Minister Hou was on his way to enter the capital early the next morning, so Suige took his people to rush to meet the minister overnight. Minister Hou was about to be killed by Wuying and the death squad. Suige arrived in time to stop them. Wuying ran away and Suige ordered Song Cheng to secretly track her. What was most important now was that Minister Hou was shot with a poisonous arrow, and he was in a coma. Suige sent Minister Hou to Zheng Nian Villa.

Episode 20

Suige captured Wuying and the death soldiers. From the soldiers, Suige got an info a man named Meng Junran had ordered them, and Meng Junran was Jingshi’s ally.

Speaking of the devil, Jingshi and Xiyang arrived in Jinxiu’s capital. Jingshi’s brother, the emperor, didn’t like him returning and rushed in with his sword and slashed at Jingshi. Feng Xiyang blocked him to protect her husband. Empress Dowager had to calm his son down. Although the life situation seemed dire, Jingshi had Eunuch Bai who was his spy for his brother.

Meanwhile, in the Susha Kingdom, Ling Feng took care of the emperor every day. But his prescription was to treat mental exhaustion. The imperial physicians questioned him; if the medicines were just for treating mental exhaustion, the emperor would have awakened by now. Ling Feng finally couldn’t stand being misunderstood and blurted out that the emperor had a terminal illness. When he was alone with Suige, Ling Feng explained that the emperor had had this illness fifteen years ago, but chose not to tell Suige. Ling Feng promised the previous empress, Suige’s mother, to take care of the emperor. But his qi energy had been depleted; he wouldn’t be healed. The secret organization that treated Ning Fei, the Storm Alliance, was founded by Suige’s mother. They hated the emperor because of what he did to their founder, so they wouldn’t want to treat the emperor.

Episode 21

Things in the Jinxiu Kingdom were crazy, and things in the Susha Kingdom were murky. Let me briefly tell you what happened in the Jinxiu Kingdom.

The emperor of Jinxiu ordered a banquet for Jingshi and his wife, but he actually wanted to humiliate his brother. Jingshi had just taken the humiliation, pretending to be meek and weak. Xiyang was frightened by what she saw; she could not help but speak for her husband. When the maids who served wine to Jingshi were threatened by the crazy emperor, Xiyang took the initiative to serve Jingshi the wine. The emperor seemed taken aback, seeing Xiyang’s loyalty towards her husband. Hmmm… I wondered if the emperor fell for Xiyang….

Now, in the Susha Kingdom, the situation was unclear with the sick emperor. PM Zhuang knew who Murong Yao actually was, so he warned Yao that they couldn’t act rashly without his order, because there was no Crown Prince of Susha! Why did the emperor not choose his successor if he had had a terminal illness for fifteen years? If the emperor died, automatically, Suige would be the emperor. We also found out that PM Zhuang held a grudge to the emperor, because he believed that the emperor killed his son. He wanted to take revenge by killing Suige while the emperor was watching. A son for a son.

After knowing from the dancer Ruyan what Murong Yao cherished was his father, Yixiao kidnapped Murong Zhong aka the Marquis of Murong. She wanted to use the marquis as leverage so Yao wouldn’t kill Suige. The marquis was loyal to the emperor. He never complained even when stationed far in the cold northern border. Earlier, when the marquis was invited by PM Zhuang, he believed Suige had to be the successor, because he was the First Prince. He couldn’t believe that his son would commit treason by colluding with the enemy, as Yixiao couldn’t believe that the marquis was actually a righteous man, unlike his son.

Episode 22

Empress Zhuang Jingyuan found out that her husband, the emperor, never loved her. In fact, he had always loved Suige’s mother, although pretending not to. He not only never told her about his illness, but also waited for 15 years not to nominating his successor until Suige grew up. She became hysterical and tried to kill her husband by stuffing a rice dumpling into his unconscious mouth. The guards outside heard her and took her away. Feng Chengyang saw all this and felt sorry for his mother.

Yixiao shot an arrow with a kidnapping note at the door of the Murong Mansion. Yao was angry when he read the note, but couldn’t do anything, but retracted the spies put outside Suige’s mansion. Yixiao asked Lu Ke to pass the clay wolf to Suige, as she wanted to meet him. When they met, Yixiao told Suige that Meng Junran was Murong Yao. At first, Suige couldn’t believe it, but Yixiao had no reason to lie to him.

Afterward, he rushed to the Murong Mansion to ask his best friend for clarification. Unexpectedly, Yao did not hide anything and admitted that he was Meng Junran. The reason: Yao was mad at the unfair treatment of his father who was the emperor’s best friend, and both made great contribution to the kingdom. The marquis even risked his life to save Suige’s life when he was ten years old. Little Suige and little Yao ran into bandits. His father almost died fighting the bandits, and little Yao’s foot was cut. His father rescued Suige and let him go, because if the prince was dead, the emperor would punish the entire Murong family. After that, the emperor held the Murong family accountable and sent the family to the northern border. The emperor arranged for his father to guard the northern border. Yao’s foot was not cured; now he limped.

Yao was willing to be killed by Suige for his father to be released, but Suige could not bring himself to kill his old friend. Yao put on a mask and became Meng Junran. Suige split his mask in half with a sword and declared that from now on, they were no longer brothers.

Episode 23

Suige left the heavily guarded Murong Mansion safely, thanks to Yixiao, who was ready to shoot Yao. The couple returned to Suige’s mansion, and he was in a daze. The betrayal of his good brother caused a great blow to Suige. He did not explain to Yao that he had fainted in the desert for several days. When he woke up again, the Marquis and Yao had been arranged to guard the northern border. Yixiao comforted Suige and offered to teach him archery. The archery lesson became a romantic one. The two went from teaching archery to teaching kissing skills, and Suige directly took the initiative.

We found out what happened to PM Zhuang’s son. He was arrested and executed by the emperor’s order for raising private soldiers and hoarding weapons and armor. For this reason, PM Zhuang had been planning for many years to avenge his son and let the emperor watch Suige die. PM Zhuang had a chance to rant to the emperor, who was already unconscious and had no power to fight back. Little did PM Zhuang know that as soon as he left, the emperor opened his eyes, obviously having heard all the words Zhuang Shen had just said.

Warning: Crazy people ahead… hahaha!

Sure enough that the emperor of Jinxiu fell for Xiyang, despite his mother’s warning not to covet his brother’s wife. He flirted with Xiyang. but she smacked his hand away. It was the first time someone dared to treat him like this, which attracted him. I think he was a sadomasochist…

Suige summoned a special unit of the Feng Battalion, the Qiongqi Unit. This unit comprised of mad dogs. They were uncultured soldiers, but loyal to Suige. Suige told the leader that Yixiao represented him. They were sent into the palace to protect the emperor. If Suige sent the Feng Battalion, the officials would think he planned a rebellion. This Qiongqi Unit would enter with no token and no armor as household guards. These people were like barbarians who had never seen a (pretty) woman, hahaha!

Episode 24

I thought I saw enough crazy people in Episode 23, but there was one crazier in this drama, if not the craziest character…

Suige, Yixiao, and the Qiongqi Unit had a clash with PM Zhuang and the imperial guards. While the two sides confronted each other and were on a stalemate, they suddenly heard that the emperor was missing. Eunuch Ma and Ling Feng were also missing. They were looking for the emperor. When Suige met his father in his mother’s mansion, he was reprimanded. In his father’s view, as his son, he must have the ambition to become emperor. His father wanted an heir who was ambitious and bloody to be the leader of the empire. But Suige did not care about the empire that his father had built.

The emperor provoked Suige about his mother’s tragic death. The former empress had founded Storm Alliance. Although she had fought side-by-side with the emperor, she would never depend on him like ordinary women. The emperor hated that his son didn’t hate him deeply enough to be ambitious to take over the throne. Yixiao had had enough of this and snatched the sword from Suige’s hand and put it on the emperor’s neck. She angrily scolded the emperor for not being worthy of being a father. He kept saying that he was doing it for his son, but all he did was hurt his son.

The emperor wanted Suige to kill him, become the emperor of Susha, and develop Susha to be even stronger. Yixiao said that for the so-called national righteousness, the family came before the country. He didn’t take care of his family; how could he speak of duty to the family and country?

Okay… honestly, I was confused with this scene. How could they make Yixiao from a foreign country lecture an emperor from a country about national and family duties, while putting a sword over his shoulder?

Episode 25

Just because Yixiao said the same thing as Wei Qingyu, Suige’s mother, the emperor was so angry and ordered Suige to kill her. Suige was unmoved, kicked the edict of succession to the side, and pulled Yixiao out. She apologized for interrupting the father and son’s convo, but Suige thanked her for speaking for him and kept him calm. Ling Feng was completely disappointed with the emperor, packed his medicine box and left. If it hadn’t been for Wei Qingyu back then, Ling Feng would not have exhausted his knowledge to save the emperor’s life.

PM Zhuang arranged for his daughter to take her son out of the palace to avoid the situation. PM Zhuang revealed that her brother was killed by the emperor. The emperor was afraid of the Zhuang family’s power, so he killed PM Zhuang’s son on the charge of treason. PM Zhuang cried and took all the blame alone, and wanted to preserve the Zhuang family. Since his daughter was unwilling to leave, PM Zhuang no longer forced her but asked Feng Chengyang to take good care of his mother. Only when PM Zhuang killed Suige that the Zhuang family would win.

PM Zhuang told Murang Yao that he could be an emperor with a different surname. Poor marquis, he was shocked to find that his son had become a person who killed innocent people indiscriminately. Murong Zhong stunned his son and ordered his pretty assassins to take him back home. Murong Zhong decided to enter the palace to meet the emperor and plead guilty.

Yixiao and Suige were already an item; they were worried about each other and couldn’t sleep. They were already in love with each other, so it was only a matter of time before they made love. The next morning, when they combed each other’s tangled hair, Lu Ke, who was naive, came to spoil the scenery, hahaha!

Episode 26

All hell broke loose in Jinxiu as well as in Susha!

Feng Xiyang, who was caught between the heartless (husband) and the lunatic (brother-in-law), finally heard that her father was ill. She ran back to find her husband, who admitted he had known about this. Xiyang wanted to leave Jinxiu and return to Susha, but the emperor didn’t let her go. The reason her husband didn’t stop her from leaving was to use her to find out whether there were any hidden guards outside their place. She was taken away by the guards, but her husband didn’t defend her at all. Later, the emperor came to see her and was able to coax her into admitting that she hated her husband. The emperor offered her to work together with him to kill Jingshi.

After all the lovey-dovey, Suige was back ruthless, but now he aimed at PM Zhuang. After gathering his men, Suige led them straight to the Zhuang Mansion. The latter was ready and sent men to ambush them on the roads that were full of civilians and assassins dressed as civilians. Suige gave an order not to attack civilians, but they were attacked by these disguised assassins. Luckily, Suige had backup soldiers from the Feng Battalion. He managed to kill Zhuang Min, PM Zhuang’s nephew, and killed his way into the Zhuang Mansion.

After learning that PM Zhuang Shen was in the ancestral hall, Suige went straight there. PM Zhuang had been waiting for him. As soon as Suige entered, he activated the mechanism and closed all the doors, intending to let Suige die here and avenge his son. PM Zheng wanted to ignite the hidden explosives with a candle, but Yixiao shot the candle away with an arrow. Yixiao and Suige managed to find a way out by tracing the wind. Suige took PM Zheng to the palace to address the injustice PM Zheng had committed. The emperor ordered Feng Chengyang to be taken away, but did not let Zhuang Jingyuan leave. The empress begged her husband for her father’s life, but the emperor coldly said, “My condolences,” as what she said to him 15 years ago when Wei Qingyu died under PM Zhen’s sword.

Episode 27

Beware, this was a bloody episode!

The ministers were called to the palace to watch Suige interrogate PM Zhuang for killing the late Empress Wei Qingyu. PM Zhuang took the blame alone to protect his daughter and his grandson. He was stabbed to death by Suige. When the emperor heard that PM Zhuang was dead, he summoned his son, but Suige didn’t want to come to see him. He severed the father-son relationship, as well as the monarch and his subject.

Suige took Yixiao into the ancestral hall, and the two knelt together in front of the memorial tablet of his mother. After that, he held a banquet for his subordinates in the evening to celebrate the victory of the death of PM Zhen avenging his mother.

Zhuang Jingyuan killed the emperor with a dagger. He called for help, but only two guards and Murong Zhong showed up. The marquis killed the guards and Eunuch Ma. He covered for the empress and cleaned up the blood. Later, Murong Yao and Murong Jie, the Zhonglang general of the Jinwu Guard, entered the palace. Yao was surprised to learn that his father had done it. The Murong family had no way back. Murong Zhong had begged the emperor and Suige to spare his son, but neither of them was willing to help. The next day, a eunuch came to tell Suige that his father had fallen ill again. Suige had no choice but to enter the palace, but found that his father was sitting in the imperial study, dead, and his whole body was covered with blood.

Murong Zhong tried to shoot Suige but failed. He took out a dagger and fought Suige at close quarters. However, the old man was no match for the strong and powerful Suige. Suige had the upper hand. When he was stabbing the marquis with his dagger, a sharp blade suddenly pierced through Suige’s chest. He did not expect that there would be someone else in the imperial study besides Murong Zhong. He was Murong Yao!

Episode 28

Murong Yao stabbed Suige again, and Suige fell to the floor and died. Now that things have reached this point, the Murong family couldn’t care less. Yao would accuse Suige of killing his father and killing the emperor, and he became a hero who killed Suige. Since Murong Zhong and Zhuang Jingyuan were now on the same boat, she promised that once her son became emperor, the Murong family would be promoted. She gave the imperial token to Yao, who took Suige’s body out of the palace and out of the capital.

When Yixiao woke up after the party, she did not see Suige. When she learned that he had entered the palace, she felt uneasy. Luckily, Ruyan, the former dancer who hated Yao, had been following Yao and saw Yao hid Suige’s body. She rushed to find Yixiao immediately. Yao ordered his assassin to bury Suige. Not long after they left, Yixiao rode over and dug Suige out.

Well, Suige didn’t die… or this drama would end in this episode! His injuries were not fatal, his pupils were dilated, and his heart pulse was weak. Yixiao took him to Ling Feng for treatment. His desire to survive was extremely strong, and he still had a breath left. However, he had heart failure, and Ling Feng could not guarantee that he would live long. When Murong Zhong learned that Suige’s body was gone and the First Prince’s Mansion was empty, he ordered Murong Jie to lead the Imperial Guards to attack Zheng Nian Villa.

Ling Feng’s medicine could only help Suige stay alive for five days. Yixiao decided to rush to Storm Alliance. On the way to the Alliance, they were chased by Murong Jie, and the Qiongqi Unit stayed behind to delay time. Murong Jie brought a lot of people and attacked aggressively. The Qiongqi Unit’s leader and Gu Yu were killed, but they bought valuable time for the departure of Yixiao and Suige.

Jingshi came to find his wife and stated he would help her leave Jinxiu by begging his brother. Xiyang already got a backup from the emperor, so she refused the help and stated she didn’t have any feelings for him anymore. Jingshi took out a divorce letter. Xiyang tore it to pieces and said that he was only a prince consort; she was supposed to divorce him. From now on the relationship between the two was over. The crazy Jinxiu emperor was overjoyed over what happened to Susha. He wanted to kill Jingshi immediately, but the empress dowager prohibited him because she coveted the Zhennan Army in Jingshi’s hands.

Ling Feng led Yixiao and others to the Storm Alliance after a long journey. This Alliance had no national boundaries, but four elders jointly discussed and made decisions, whether they wanted to help Suige or not.

Conclusion

Wow… With the emperor’s murder and the accusation that Suige was the killer, it seemed the big enemies had the upper hand in this political struggle. We’ll see if Yixiao and Suige’s subordinates could reach the Storm Alliance, and they could wake Suige up. After that, what awaits them in the Sushan Kingdom? Let’s continue our journey to the final part!
