Introduction
Light Beyond the Reed is considered difficult to watch because of its sensitive subject, primarily the topic of sexual assault. Your hesitation to watch it is understandable, given the show’s heavy and traumatic themes.
Initially, I planned to write a review article about this drama because of the number of episodes. A reader, who saw my writing schedule on the front page, suggested I write a recap instead, so readers who want to watch this drama can avoid any triggering scenes. Because I didn’t intend to rewatch such a sensitive drama to write a (detailed) recap, I opted to write highlights instead. You can still find out what to expect in an episode and avoid any potentially distressing material for a safe viewing experience. The episode-by-episode breakdowns can help you prepare. I will also add a title to each episode to summarize its content.
This first part of a two-part series contains highlights from Episodes 1 to 9.

Conclusion
Actions can affect others indirectly through interconnectedness, a person’s attitude, and the ripple effect of individual choices on communities and systems. For example, when an individual acts with selfishness, such in this case with Fan Jiancheng, it not only affects Ye Sibei, but also negatively impacts those around them. This highlights that every individual’s behavior has consequences beyond the immediate person, influencing their social circle and even broader society.
