Drama Recap Episodes 26 to 40
Episode 26
Su Yu confesses to Ran Ran his plan to seize Yi Shui’s body and trap him under the water. He also locks Ran Ran up and forces her to agree to marry him using people from her hometown. Ran Ran pretends to delay the wedding date by four days while finding a way to transform herself and go to the bottom of the water to discuss with Yi Shui. She also deliberately angers Ran Wu to find weak spots in the formation set up by Su Yu. While Ran Ran and Ran Wu fight, Yi Shui helps Ran Ran from under the water.
Episode 27
At the wedding ceremony, Yi Shui controls the green dragon under the water and breaks out of it. Su Yu takes the opportunity to exchange his body with Yi Shui’s. The Heavenly Bottle breaks and Spirit Spring leaks. Ran Ran kisses Su Yu to feed the Vermillion Bird’s blood to suppress the Spirit Spring. Ran Ran saved the sacred bird when it was wounded back in Heavenly Meridian Mountain and it became her pet bird since.
The dragon and the bird take Ran Ran and Yi Shui somewhere private near the East Sea. Lol, Yi Shui is jealous because Ran Ran kisses Su Yu (in Yi Shui’s body) when she feeds him the blood and takes the initiative to kiss her. Now, it’s no longer without consent, since she kisses him back. The two make clear their feelings towards each other. He also tells her that he killed her (Qing Ge) before because of Ran Wu’s trap and his remorse.
Ran Ran later ties him up, don’t get your imagination wild!, to return Ling Xiao into his body so he can heal. He ascends to the Transcendence Realm.

Episode 28
Xue Ran Ran and Su Yi Shui are officially a couple now. They send their savior, the green dragon, back to where it belongs to the Divine Dragon Island in the Sea of Immortality. After eating sushi, eh grilled fish, the dragon gifted them, Ran Ran and Yi Shui return to Wester Mountain. Everyone runs into the couple hugging. Xie Er, Bai Bai Shan, and Gao Cang are shocked to learn that their fellow disciple is the Grandmaster Qing Ge. Yu Tong and Yu Chen are also happy because they have been with their master since the beginning. The only one who is not happy is Fei Hua, who as Qing Ge’s bestie in the past knows that Yi Shui killed Qing Ge and he is the demon’s son. However, Fei Hua and her family are saved by Yi Shui and after a private talk with Ran Ran Fei Hua congratulates her and bids farewell. Ran Ran also lifts up the Silencing Spell that Qing Ge put on Yi Shui that fated day to prevent him from telling the world that he is the demon’s child.

Episode 29
I’m glad that not only does the couple get together, but misunderstandings are clarified within Wester Sect. The Yu siblings realize that they have disliked Qing Ge/Ran Ran since they thought she was the demon child, and now admire Qing Ge’s decision to seal their master’s mouth not to disclose that he’s the demon child. Xie Er, Bai Bai Shan, and Gao Cang are at first feel awkward that their fellow disciple is the Grandmaster but Ran Ran comforts them by just treating her as Ran Ran. They also want to accompany the couple going to the dangerous Netherworld despite they’re free to leave the Sect if they want.
There are lovey-dovey scenes in this episode, with the couple going shopping and winning the Mirror of Fated Love. They also accidentally discover the three thousand lanterns Qing Ge made for Yi Shui in her previous life. Ran Ran’s memory also back to Qing Ge and confirms that Qing Ge has had a feeling towards Yi Shui in the past.

Episode 30
The blood moon appears and the Netherworld is opened. Everyone from Wester Sect and some other cultivators go in. They fight against monsters. Ran Wu sneaks in and releases… Ye Xin! Remember Mu Qing Ge and Mu Ran Wu’s adopted uncle who raised them? Ye Xin is also Dun Tian, who is also the founder of the Heavenly Sect. In the past, Dun Tian sacrificed his wife and two daughters to be immortal but regretted it. He gave up his immortality and came into the human world as Ye Xin and manipulated Qing Ge, Ran Wu, and others to resurrect his wife and daughters. Qing Ge found out about Ye Xin’s scheme, causing her to sacrifice herself to seal the Spiritual Spring.
You gotta kidding me… an amnesia trope??? Although Yi Shui successfully sealed the Spiritual Spring, before escaping Dun Tian throws Soul-Cleansing Charm on him and Yi Shui’s memory has retreated for 23 years when he was still cold and ruthless and wanted to kill Mu Qing Ge!

Episode 31
So, in the amnesiac Yi Shui’s memory, he was just forced by Mu Qing Ge to be her disciple and taken to Wester Mountain. He doesn’t know and doesn’t care about Ran Ran and his disciples, only his servants Yu Tong and Yu Chen. The other disciples are kicked out of the mountain. Ran Ran is held because she says she has half of his Golden Core. Yu Tong has to lie that Ran Ran is the reincarnation of Ran Wu, because if she said Ran Ran is Qing Ge, Yi Shui would kill her. Even Zeng Yi, Yi Shui’s fellow disciple of Qing Ge, can’t help either. Liang Wu Meng and Alcohol Immortal are happy knowing that Ran Ran is Qing Ge’s reincarnation. However, they too can’t help Yi Shui.
Yi Shui goes to his father Prince Ping’s dilapidated mansion. After Prince Zong (Su Yu’s father) ascended to the throne, Prince Ping and his family were scattered away. Prince Zong made an agreement with Mu Qing Ge that their life would be spared. However, Yi Shui’s half-sister died. Yi Shui can’t enter the palace since Ye Xin put a barrier formation around. He plans to take over the power.
There are funny scenes where Yi Shui, who has been used to eating Chef Ran Ran’s yummy dishes, despises all the food Yu Tong and Yu Chen make. Ran Ran is gone as she tries to find a cure for the amnesia but leaves recipes to the Yu siblings. But no matter how hard they try they can’t replicate hers, and even no other cooks hired satisfy Yi Shui.

Episode 32
Yi Shui, who is hungry, tries to cook himself but he’s too impatient to cook since Ran Ran usually takes hours to cook. He finds a Qi Replenishing Pill, a yummy pill made by Ran Ran using Dream-Inducing herbs. He ends up having a romantic dream with her. Furious, he goes to Pu Xin Village to find her. Ran Ran is there to trace Ye Xin and find a book stating that although the Charm is unbreakable, can be undone by making the one charmed fall in love again. While Yi Shui eats all the food Ran Ran made, the villagers come asking for their help because of some demon attack, since they erected statues of their village saviors (Yi Shui and Ran Ran).
Yi Shui and Ran Ran go to the forest, but the shameful Yi Shui just wants to wait for Ran Ran to fight the demons herself and take his Golden Core back. However, while Ran Ran is attacked by a spider demon, he saves her. His vow binds him to protect her forever, hehe. They run into Yan Liang Yu and Wei Hong Sian, elders from other sects, who also experienced similar incidents in other villages. Ye Xin launched a massive terror in the mortal world. Liang Yu and Hong Sian have looked up Ye Xin’s background before when they were investigating Qing Ge but found none. Before leaving Qing Ge’s old home, Yi Shui finds Ye Xin’s old portrait which looks like the Black-Masked Magician accompanying Prince Ping when he was small. They realized that Ye Xin had executed his plan for a long time.
Ran Ran runs into Wang Sui Zhi, Qing Ge’s disciple, who now acknowledges her as his old master. Although he knows the ‘Qing Ge’ at the palace is an impostor, he has liked her since her first life so he stays with her. Ran Ran asks him to try to straighten Ran Wu’s life and to secretly investigate Ye Xin who is now at the palace advising Su Yu.
Yi Shui decides to take Ran Ran back to keep an eye on his Golden Core by his side, and to cook for him. Ran Ran buys a lot of gifts for Wester people, even for the cat and the dog. She buys him an angry squeeze doll that looks just like him, lol.

Episode 33
Ran Ran is back as the chef, and new recruits are elated because they heard that Ran Ran is skillful in alchemy and passed the trial in Marrow-Cleasing Pool. When they flock in the kitchen trying to help her, Yi Shui comes in and jealously punishes them all and forbids them near the kitchen again. There is a kissing contest between him and Ran Ran when she brings him food. He’s all shy after kissing her and when she kisses him back and doesn’t feel shy he’s jealous that she has kissed men. Ran Ran says that she kissed a pig before.
Because of the kissing contest, poor Ran Ran is punished by copying the disciple’s rule, despite he kissed her first. Moreover, she feels her spiritual energy is depleted by Ran Wu because of the Soul-Devouring Lock. Yu Tong advises her not to indulge the master and reports that Ran Ran is overworked and tired. He hires another cook, orders her another portion, not to cook for him, and sets up the Ice Lotus Pool specifically for her training. He tells her to be more affectionate and depend on him more.
Luckily Ran Ran can bring Bai Bai Shan, Xi Er, and Gao Chang back because these recruits are arrogant and obnoxious. The seniors and the juniors end up fighting and Ran Ran breaks the fight with a spell. When Yi Shui punishes them all, she defends her senior brothers and sister because they’re not at fault and have been loyal to Yi Shui since the beginning. In the morning he tests them all and praises his older disciples to the recruits. Ran Ran finds that his recruits are all from influenced and powerful families and realizes that he recruited an army to fight the court instead!

Episode 34
I just want to be brief with this episode. Besides another kiss planted by Ran Ran on Yi Shui’s lips to praise him for not bowing down to Dun Tian’s demand, there is another important event that has bothered our couple so far. Ran Ran and Yi Shui face a powerful demonic being Rong Yao, who is actually a resentment spirit of Rong Yao, the belated wife of Dun Tian. Since he sacrificed his wife and daughters, Rong Yao also holds resentment. Because her malicious energy is so strong, Ran Ran and Yi Shui almost can’t hold her attack. Ran Wu, who is hiding nearby, is also pulled out because of the Soul-Devouring Lock that connects her with Ran Ran. Not wanting to have anything to do with the powerful Rong Yao, Ran Wu gives all her power back to Ran Ran, thus breaking off the Soul-Devouring Locks. Yay! Ran Ran has Qing Ge’s full memories now.
Episode 35
The serpent Ran Wu, after her identity and power are gone as Qing Ge, points out that Ran Ran is the demon’s child everyone is looking for. Yi Shui is angry that Ran Ran deceived him as Ran Wu and they need a private place to argue far from everyone, lol. Ran Ran goes back and forth having Qing Ge and Ran Ran’s personalities. When she says she’ll cut ties with him after dealing with Dun Tian Yi Shui feels hurt.
Yi Shui is possessed by the demon bones of the ancient human Demon King. He has so much power, that no other immortals can beat him. Ran Ran, now fully Qing Ge, still believes can bring him back. She asks Zeng Yi to take care of the Yu siblings who are completely wounded by Yi Shui and sends away Wester Sect because nobody matches the Demon King’s power than her. Demon King breaks into Eternal Sect and even the Sect leader can’t hold him. When Ran Ran (I will still call her by that name, since that’s what Qing Ge wants to be called) challenges the Demon King and calls Su Yi Shui’s name, he says Su Yi Shui won’t come back.

Episode 36
Demon King is unable to resist Ran Ran, so he chooses to disappear although Ran Ran cannot contact Yi Shui at all. There are a lot more demonic attacks. The sad thing is towards the end of the episode, Ran Ran (as Qing Ge) goes to see her bestie Su Yu, who is now sickly and dying. Su Yu asks if she ever loved him, which we know the answer is no since she always regards him as best friend. She asks him to turn around his bad ways. Ran Wu, who now works for Dun Tian, appears and takes Su Yu away.
Episode 37
It’s time to work together, Ran Ran realizes even her mighty power won’t stand against Dun Tian and his army. Zhou Fei Hua, her bestie and the one who loves Su Yu, sneaks in to rescue Su Yu. Ran Ran asks for help from the Dragon Goddess, Qing Luo, the little dragon she and Yi Shui once rescued takes her to his mother, the Dragon Goddess. Ran Ran asks the Goddess to retrieve the Heavenly Book she once hid from Dun Tian. When she is under the sea, Demon King shows up. There’s a good fighting scene between Ran Ran and Demon King. Inside the Demon, Yi Shui finally can take over and thrust his body onto the Fire-Refined Dragon Crystal Dagger and shattered his own Golden Core.
With the help of Liang Wu Meng and Jiu Lao Xian, Ran Ran goes into the Netherworld to collect the fragments of Golden Core left by Mu Qing Ge. After collecting it, they still can’t transfer it because Yi Shui rejects the Golden Core. Or precisely, the nightmare that has haunted him rejects it. They help Ran Ran enter his sea of consciousness to deal with his nightmare. His nightmare is self-blaming for killing and harming Qing Ge/Ran Ran again and again. Ran figures out the way to turn his mind is by sending him a lantern.

Episode 38
Ran Ran enters Yi Shui’s nightmare and unties his heart knot. He remembers the lanterns Qing Ge lit up when he came home in his birthday and wondered if Wester Mountain is his home. Golden Core successfully enters his body and heals him. Yi Shui wakes up. When he wants to playfully kiss her, the Dragon Goddess shows up. Apparently, according to Yi Shui, Dun Tian needs three children to open the Three Thousand Realm Tower: the human emperor child (Su Yu), the devil child (Su Yi Shui), and the divine dragon child which is Qing Luo.
The quilt scene is hilarious. Wei Jiu comes to Wester Mountain to seek cooperation to fight the shadow people because he is the first one being cloned. Yi Shui lets Wei Jiu stay the night and he uses a quilt blanket. The next morning, Yi Shui tells Wei Jiu to throw away the blanket since he’s disgusted it was used by Wei Jiu. It turns out the blanket is sown by Ran Ran. Frantically Yi Shui looks for it and washes it himself.

Episode 39
The Wester Sect and Wei Jiu go to the Celestial Sect to kill the fake Wei Jiu and rescue Tu Jiu Yuan. Once the shadow person is killed, all shadow people disappear. Wang Sui Zhi stops Ran Wu from sending the dragon child Qing Luo to Dun Tian. He dies in the process, but not before he confesses his love to her since he saw her for the first time. Ran Wu becomes crazy and Ran Ran decides to let her live. Everyone enters Three Thousand Realm Tower to fight Dun Tian, who already captured Su Yu and Qing Luo.
Episode 40
A lot of CGI-loaded fighting scenes. To complete his collection so he can open the Three Thousand Realm Tower, Dun Tian creates a fake Su Yi Shui. Luckily, Su Yu stabbed the fake Yi Shui with Devil Breaking Cone to kill him. He then stabs himself, not before asking Ran Ran to pass a farewell message to Zhou Fei Hua. For the third child, Qing Luo, don’t mess with mommy! The Dragon Goddess Long Shen shows up with her army since Ran Ran and Yi Shui break the Three Thousand Realm sky and destroy the Tower. Dun Tian dies. After thanking Ran Ran and Yi Shui, Dragon Goddess Long Shen then takes her son back to Dragon Island.
It’s wedding time! Three years after rebuilding Wester Mountain, Xue Ran Ran and Su Yi Shui complete the wedding surrounded by friends. After the wedding night, they disappear to travel the world together. Thirteen years later, everything in Wester Mountain runs normally. Bai Bai Shan is the Sovereign of the Sect now, appointed by Yi Shui and Ran Ran before their wedding. Xi Er and Gao Cang get married and teach new students. Zeng Yi and Captain Qin, Qing Ge’s disciple from Wangxiang Pass, become the Advisors now. But all they do is drink tea, trim bonsai, and check their beard, lol.
As for Ran Ran and Yi Shui? They live peacefully in a secluded place with three children (and the fourth is on the way?). Every night they draw lots to assign who becomes the apprentice for the next day to do house chores. The End.

Conclusion
What a thrilling and fun journey of Mu Qing Ge/Xue Ran Ran and I’m glad her dream to live free and travel the world come true with her beloved one. Whatever they do and wherever they go, there will be always a house with a tree. “In spring the tree grows leaves. In summer it’s a shelter from wind and rain. In autumn it bears fruits for us to pick. In winter it provides branches for firewood. In the morning, birds chirp on top. At noon, it provides shade from the heat. At night, we listen to the rustling wind through the leaves, while drinking and chatting under the tree.”
