Minor, Medium, and Major Spoilers

Explanation of minor, medium, and major spoilers I used in the articles.

In dramas/movies/TV shows, spoilers are typically categorized by how much they impact your emotional experience and understanding of the plot.

Minor Spoilers

Spoilers that provide general, low-stakes information that does not reveal crucial plot twists or outcomes.

Examples:

  • Discussing the premise or setup of the drama.
  • Mentioning that a scene is “intense” or “romantic” without saying what happens.
  • Referring to publicly released trailers or character information.

Impact: Minimal; often acts as a teaser to increase interest.

In my articles, I use minor spoilers freely and deliberately without spoiler tags.

Medium Spoilers

Spoilers that reveal specific plot points, character development, or turning points that, while important, are not the final climax.

Examples:

  • Revealing that a character changes sides.
  • Mentioning a specific, significant event in a middle episode (e.g., “they break up in episode 5”).
  • Revealing a key, but not final, plot twist.

Impact: Moderate; reduces suspense and “moment of discovery” for specific scenes.

I use spoiler tags for medium spoilers only in the review articles, not in highlight or recap articles. In editorial articles, it depends on the topic, and I announce how I would treat the spoilers in the Introduction section.

Major Spoilers

Spoilers that disclose major revelations, the ending, or critical, shocking twists that fundamentally alter how the story is experienced.

Examples:

  • Revealing who dies or who ends up together at the end.
  • Disclosing the identity of a “whodunit” killer.
  • Revealing a major, hidden truth that redefines the entire plot (e.g., “the main character was dead the whole time”).

Impact: Severe; can significantly ruin the intended emotional impact or shock value of the drama.

I use spoiler tags for major spoilers only in the review articles, not in highlight or recap articles. In editorial articles, it depends on the topic, and I announce how I would treat the spoilers in the Introduction section.
