Explanation on how and why I rated a drama/movie/TV show. All rating is subjective. I only write about shows with a rating of 8.0/10 or above.
My rating for a drama/movie/TV show is based on MyDramaList’s scoring system, which is from 0.0 to 10.0. For any drama/movie/TV show I completed, I gave a minimum rating of 6.0 to appreciate the hard work of the production team, and to adjust to the website’s score base. From 6.0, the show can have additional scores of:
- + 1.0 for the story and plot (+0.5 each).
- + 1.0 for the characterization and acting (+0.5 each).
- + 1.0 for the visualization, which contains cinematography, costume, makeup, set, and CGI.
That usually brings my total rating to 9.0/10.
Additional features that bring the rating to 9.5 or 10 (perfect) are:
- Uniqueness: I have never seen anything like it.
- Strong emotional investment: I cried my heart out for the ending, or toward the end.
- Withdrawal: I kept thinking about a certain subplot, even after I finished watching it.
- Rewatch value: I rewatched it, in full or in part, because I liked the show so much.
- Highly recommended: I will recommend the show on a whim.
- Memorable: I will remember the show for a long time.
