Episode 25
Traveling together is the perfect chance to grow closer
TY: "What... what were we like with each other?"
SJ: "Just like that."
TY: "Like what?"
SJ: "Like what you're thinking." [Remember, Jiao could read her mind if she was nervous]
TY: [blushed] "I'm not thinking about anything... [she was still curious]... Have we [she couldn't bring up the consummation word]... already?"
SJ: "What?"
TY: [glared at Jiao] "You know what I mean."
SJ: [smirked at her] "No, I don't."
TY: [frustrated] "Have you been in my Soul Manor?"
SJ: [nodded slowly]... Very often."
Oh my gosh, the scene in the hot spring was so hot and steamy, like the real situation over there. Now that Tingyan (let me change her name back from Shi Yan to Liao Tingyan since she has realized her real name) felt very relaxed and free, she asked Jiao to help her recover more of her memories. He admitted that he could help her recover her memories quickly, but she deserved to move at her own pace. Jiao then went into the pool and walked to her slowly. Tingyan’s heart beat faster, although she kept reminding herself to calm down. He kissed her very gently and affectionately, and she could not resist.
Of course, Feng Qi saw them kissing, and he was so angry he decided to work together with the Demon Lord. He wanted to kill Jiao because Jiao had the purest Fengshan bloodline. With it, they could break the seal and help the Demon Clan rise again.
So, everyone (Jiao, Tingyan, Hongluo, Nianjiu, and, yes, including the pesky Feng Qi) went on vacation to Grain Rain Vale. They bump into Tingyan’s former master. With a happy reunion, they decided to have a BBQ party. Tingyan was so happy that she got drunk. Luckily, she stumbled into the cold pool where Jiao was cooling down to recuperate. There were two Spiritual Fires inside his body, and they often backfired on each other. Since Jiao spent a lot of energy and blood refining pills for Tingyan, he was very weak. The two of them were deeply affectionate again.

I quoted their convo, because I believed this was crucial when they met again in the real world:
SJ: "Even if your soul were reborn, I'm confident I will still recognize you."
TY: "If you can always be this confident, then, I too, have faith, I could recognize you at first sight."
Episode 26
A dangerous romance
After a romantic moment in the hot spring, Jiao sent Tingyan back and found she felt cold and her pulse was very strange. He asked Nianjiu if anything unusual had happened around Tingyan recently. Nianjiu suddenly remembered that he had seen Tingyan’s master specially rearranging the flowers that the servants had sent to her room. Now Nianjiu also felt that was odd, because according to his understanding of Tingyan, she never made a fuss about flower arrangements. Jiao told Nianjiu to investigate the matter. Later, he found out that the flowers were not real but miasma.
Jiao was suspicious of Feng Qi, because firstly, Feng Qi was the one who came up with the idea of vacationing at Grain Rain Vale. He wanted to use the truth spell on him, but Tingyan offered to ask Feng Qi. Feng Qi told her that she was a cold fish demon who was born at this place. Nianju also reported his finding of the miasma. They realized that this beautiful place was too good to be true. This place was White Bone Abbys, the center of the Demon Realm. The phantom Grain Rain Vale was made by Mr. Shi. This place was barren, surrounded by ice mountains, and it was freezing cold. Tingyan cold fish body affected Jiao. Feng Qi tricked Tingyan, saying that she had to take off the protective anklet, so Jiao wouldn’t get backlashed again. Stupid Tingyan took off the anklet without hesitation. Without the protection, Mr. Shi appeared and knocked her out. Feng Qi thought that Mr. Shi only wanted to restore Tingyan’s memory to their sweet moments in Demon Realm. Nope, Mr. Shi and the Demon Lord wanted to grind her into a spirit stone.
I was so heartbroken with the end of this episode. Because it was the cold fish demon’s nature place, Tingyan became the cold fish demon. This demon’s ultimate mission, as we knew since the first episode, was to kill Jiao. And we had the usual historical Chinese drama trope: FL stabbed ML. She stabbed Jiao, who was already weakened by trying to save her, and fighting Mr Shi and Demon Lord. Unfortunately, his loyal ally, who was quite strong, Nianjiu, died, too. Before Jiao was finished off, Tingyan became conscious, caught the falling Jiao, and fought Mingli. Too late… Jiao died!

Episode 27
Now I am strong enough to find lightning too.
There were a few confusing things in this episode that I wanted to address in this part:
Firstly, Jiao was dead, but was not? He was in a coma. But the most important thing was that the despicable Mr. Shi was FINALLY dead. But we still had a bunch of annoying villains.
Secondly, Tingyan decided to enter her own soul manor and met the other Tingyan? This Tingyan resembled the one we saw at the beginning. The Tingyan who entered the soul manor looked like a demon. Tingyan had become the Cold Fish Demon, and she was very powerful. I assumed the first Tingyan was like a memory bank that the current Tingyan retrieved.
Now, the most important thing was how to save Jiao. This time, the enemy she was facing was not one person, but everyone in the Demon Realm. This Tingyan was no longer immature and slacking off, but she took her time to work with strategy.
Thirdly, because by nature Tingyan was a cold fish demon, she was the chosen successor of the Demon Lord’s clan. The Demon Lord forcibly infused his inner core into her body. Now she became the rightful Demon Lord. However, since Tingyan was a time traveler, she was still Tingyan, not a demon. But the confusing thing in this part was: the previous Demon Lord no longer had a body and roamed around, until he saw Bi’an aka Zhou Yueqing, who had Fengshan Blood. He possessed her body to go into seclusion for a period of time to consolidate his magic power before making a complete comeback.
Jiao was in a coma and weak; he could die at any time. Tingyan sneaked into his spiritual mansion, and Jiao became a baby, swaddled by his mother. Sima E told Tingyan that the only way to save Jiao was spiritual fire, and the place where spiritual fire was most abundant was in Thunder Valley. Tingyan took Jiao there. That was the place Jiao took her to ascend her immortal rank last time. Jiao was electric-charged to wake him up.
When Jiao woke up, they made amends and love. She apologized that she insisted on taking a vacation to Grain Rain Vale (under Feng Qi’s persuasion). He felt sorry that she had to undergo lightning strikes with him. Because, as a demon, she was cold by nature. When he kissed her passionately, she complained that he was trying to burn her to death. He teased her that as a demon mistress, she gave in so easily, haha!

Now, two powerful lords were on the rise. Jiao did not want the immortal and demon worlds to be at war all the time, so he discussed with Tingyan what to do. Previously, the demon world had no spiritual veins to cultivate, so they always stole immortals’ core spirits to cultivate. In the future, the demon world would have their own spiritual veins, so there would be no war.
Tingyan wanted more to put the two worlds in peace than just spiritual veins, tho. She wanted to propose to Jiao, so that the immortal and the demon worlds would be united with their marriage.
Episode 28
Will it only be happiness from here on?
This episode frustrated me.
Did I tell you that although Mr. Shi, their longtime villain, was dead, there were still a bunch more villains?
Now, there was Feng Qi, who used to be a nobody in the Demon Realm back then. Because of his obsessive unrequited love for Tingyan, he became somebody after joining the Demon Lord. So he approached the lovey-dovey couple who were preparing their wedding. Although Jiao hated him for tricking Tingyan last time, he said that her body now had the Demon Lord’s inner core. The two bloodlines conflicted, and if it continued for a long time, her life would be in danger. Supposedly, his clan had a way to stabilize the Demon Lord’s inner core.
So, this stupid couple let their enemy into their territory: Tingyan’s body. Without background checking.
Meanwhile, the Immortal Realm and the Demon Realm, although now enter and exit freely, still had disputes and disharmony. Especially with the strange death of a demon leader. Because of this, the Immortal Realm and the Demon Realm began to be unable to integrate, and wars broke out every day. After Jiao’s investigation, he found out that Feng Qi killed that demon leader. He was not the Demon Lord’s puppet. Jiao sensed that Tingyan was in danger and rushed to find her.
Of course, the clashing inner core was not stabilized at all; on the contrary, the Demon Lord’s inner core inside her devoured her own. Over time, she could no longer control her mind, and she would do things without realizing it. Jiao found Feng Qi was instilling the forbidden technique of the Demon Realm into Tingyan. Jiao rescued Tingyan and used the truth spell on Feng Qi about his killing the demon leader. After the Demon Realm found out that their own demon had killed the demon leader, they no longer fought the Immortal Realm.
However, Jiao’s frequent use of inner power, plus the old injuries that had not completely recovered, made Jiao very weak. He knew he needed to go to a retreat. Tingyan was puzzled when he told her that he needed to go for a seclusion for one month before their wedding. Why couldn’t he go to a retreat after the wedding? It turned out that Jiao was going to use his own inner core to suppress the inner core clash in Tingyan’s body, but he might die. To cover his sacrificial secret from Tingyan, he covered up his Divine Mansion. When she entered it, she found that it was full of plants and flowers. The fact was it was a forest fire. Now he was seriously injured and prepared to sacrifice himself.

Episode 29
If the harsh winter comes, he will leave me a fire.
Before he died, Jiao built a beautiful backyard garden for Tingyan that resembled her Spiritual Mansion. She was angry at first because he delayed their wedding, but the so-called seclusion was for building this garden. When she started enjoying the garden, Jiao began to pass his cultivation to her. She refused, but Jiao explained that the two spiritual fires in his body conflicted with each other, which would kill him. Seeing Jiao weakened little by little, Tingyan burst into tears. Jiao gave heartbreaking last words before passing away, leaving his wedding ring.

I knew they would meet again in the mortal realm, but damn… this was a heartbreaking scene!
Life still had to go on. Tingyan was no longer a slacker. She carefully managed the affairs of the two worlds of immortals and demons, and made the people of the two worlds live a peaceful and peaceful life. After dealing with political affairs during the day, Tingyan returned to the back garden that Jiao had built for her, recalling the memories she shared with Jiao, and sometimes burst into tears.
Nineteen years have passed, and Tingyan was still alone. At the beginning, to preserve a strand of Jiao’s spiritual vein, Jiao expelled it from his inner core. However, because this strand of spiritual vein did not find a new host to be born in both realms, Tingyan sent it outside to let it find its home as soon as possible. She didn’t know where the strand went, but Nianjiu knew. He had been appearing and disappearing lately, and didn’t show up for his dates with Ruling (now I called her by her original name instead of Hongluo).
While questioning Nianjiu of his ‘unfaithfulness’ to Ruling, Tingyan felt Jiao’s aura. Nianjiu had to confess. Jiao had been reincarnated as the prince of the Hu Kingdom nine years ago. Nianjiu had been secretly helping him. Tingyan wanted to rush into the mortal world, but the situation was unclear. In the past, the Demon Lord had infused his soul into Bi’an aka Zhou Yueqing. She had not been seen anywhere in these years. If Tingyan rashly entered the mortal world, her immortal power would be restricted, so she might have a problem when she encountered Bi’an. Since Tingyan insisted on going, Ruling personally accompanied her.
In the mortal world, this prince was rumored to be promiscuous and lustful and had married several concubines. Tingyan did not take it seriously; knowing Jiao was still alive had been great news, and anything else was nothing. Actually, there was a rebellion plan to kill Jiao. Of course, the mastermind was none other than Bi’an (at this time, I named the villain with her name since the Demon Lord occupied her soul), and used Prefect Wei Xianyu, who was accidentally saved from beheading by Tingyan and Ruling.
The prince of Hu happened to open the window, and his eyes fell on Tingyan, who was walking by with Ruling. He fell in love with her at first sight and ordered his men to bring her over. Aww, he had a picture of a girl. I hoped she was Tingyan. Ruling returned to the cultivation world, and Tingyan went to meet the prince.
Episode 30
The antagonist may be late, but he will surely arrive.
Tingyan was in tears seeing Jiao again. The prince of Hu mistakenly thought she cried because his people abducted her, but the eunuch said she came of her own will. Jiao saw this girl in his dreams countless times. Sometimes she was happy, sometimes sad. He was still wary of her, though. So he threatened her with scary stuff that he did. She didn’t budge because she saw Jiao do worse things in the past. However, seeing Jiao was suspicious of her, she tapped his acupoints to knock him off, and let him lean on her shoulder, and she hugged him. That night, Tingyan stayed by Jiao’s side while he was sleeping. She checked on his spiritual mansion, but he no longer had any divine power. However, his face was no longer pale, and he returned to a vigorous young man. This Jiao didn’t have any more wounds on his body.
The next day, Jiao was suspicious that he had fallen asleep for no reason. The eunuch told him that Tingyan rescued Prefect Wei Xianyu last time. They did a background check on her, but found nothing. Jiao took her in as his consort because he was suspicious that she was a spy sent by Marquis Nan Yanhou. Keep your enemy close to you. Tingyan knew that Jiao was suspicious of her. She asked him how she should seduce him. Unfortunately, Jiao didn’t have the truth spell anymore, so Tingyan could only gradually win his trust.
Jiao took Tingyan to the palace, riding in the same carriage. Tingyan was happy to be back in the mortal world, and even the food was delicious. Jiao suddenly had a headache, and Tingyan used spiritual power to cure him. She noticed that even though his body was spared, his soul was still damaged. Jiao thought she was the one who brought this illness and cured him to win his heart.
There were assassins on the road. Tingyan couldn’t use her superpower since it backfired on her. However, Jiao was an excellent martial artist. While she was admiring him, another person was watching the scene. She was Bi’an. Bi’an used her black magic to help the assassins, forcing Tingyan to use her supernatural skills to help Jiao, too. Both forces were backfired. Tingyan felt pain, and Bi’an changed to an old woman.

An assassin took advantage of Jiao’s lack of defense and stabbed him in the back. Tingyan saw it and blocked the stab with her body. Blood poured out of her chest, but since she was an immortal, her wound was superficial. The assassins were Wei Xianyu’s men. Although Jiao knew now that Tingyan was not a spy, he was still suspicious about the demon girl’s intention to get close to him. Poor Tingyan was dubbed a demon girl not only by Jiao but also by Bi’an, who colluded with Marquis Nan Yanhou. If Tingyan were not eliminated as soon as possible, she would ruin their plans. Another villain was the Imperial Physician.
Tingyan couldn’t help feeling jealous when the maids told her that Jiao had another consort, plus a bunch of concubines. The other consort was Noble Consort Si Xian, the daughter of Marquis Nan Yanhou. Yikes!
It seemed like Tingyan would have more enemies in the mortal world. Not just Marquis Nan Yanhou, his daughter, Bi’an, and other concubines who didn’t like her. The only one who was neutral and wise was Empress Dowager Jiao’s mother, who bore a resemblance to Sima E. Tingyan was shocked when the Empress Dowager arrived. She didn’t think Her Highness was Sima E’s reincarnation, since when Sima Tribe members died, only their bone pearls remained and became Moonshade Blooms flowers. Tingyan thought that heaven made up for the past, where Jiao didn’t even receive motherly love. Empress Dowager saw her staring at her and asked the reason. Tingyan just said that she looked like the goddess from her hometown. Empress Dowager asked Tingyan a bunch of questions, so she didn’t have a choice but to lie through her teeth.
A concubine wanted to make a toast to Jiao, but Tingyan saw that her wine jug was poisonous. She neutralized it. When Jiao was not poisoned after the toast, the concubine pulled out a hairpin and wanted to stab Jiao. Tingyan saw it, pushed him away, and was stabbed instead. It was normal if Jiao didn’t trust anyone. He only ate her mom’s cooking after the banquet was over. Mother and son talked about Tingyan, and Mom urged him to appoint her as the empress if he fancied her. However, Tingyan still had a mysterious background. Jiao told his mom that Tingyan had been in his dream since he was little. Mom said this might be the sign of heaven. Lol, this Jiao was an atheist; he didn’t believe in heaven.
Episode 31
The more we keep secrets, the more we look like a couple.
Since Tingyan was suspicious that the Marquis of Nanyan and Wei Xianyu had colluded, she asked her immortal friends for help. The Marquis sent someone to kill Mr. Wei to silence him. But it was not Mr. Wei who was killed, but an immortal who posed as him. When Mr. Wei saw the Marquis’ true colors, he revealed the Marquis’ crimes. Tingyan wrote down the crimes and presented them to Jiao. The immortals hid Mr. Wei, and he disappeared from the prison. Jiao understood this was Tingyan’s doing, so he ordered Mr. Wei to be listed as dead. He wanted to ask Tingyan about it, but she was nowhere to be around.
Tingyan had a heavenly business with Ruling. They went around the Hu State to look for the Demon Lord’s whereabouts and found Hu Shan Hall, a royal mansion with a spiritual barrier set up. They thought this must be Jiao’s doing before his death. Tingyan asked Ruling to investigate further about this matter.
Jiao stayed in Tingyan’s room the whole night, wondering where she had gone. In the morning, he saw his other consort, Lady Sixian, bullied Tingyan’s maid. Originally, Jiao wanted to rebuke his consort, but when he saw Tingyan, he deliberately acted sweet to Sixian to Tingyan’s annoyance. However, later, he apologized and started sleeping next to her. Jiao felt calm by her side, and also dreamed of his past life’s memories.

Marquis of Nanyan forced Jiao to build a canal, which became a dilemma. Building it made people suffer. Not building the transportation system suffered. Tingyan promised Jiao she would help him. Later, she ordered her subordinates to build the canal supernaturally. While they were doing it, Bi’an interfered. Luckily, Nian Jiu came to help them. When they were done, they reported to Tingyan and also told them about the Demon Lord’s interference.
Because of Tingyan’s full support of Jiao without any ulterior motives, he wanted to make her his queen. Now that Marquis Nanyan’s daughter was no longer favored, he asked Bi’an for stronger help. The Demon Lord needed a constant source of blood to nourish her body, so she asked the Marquis of Nanyan to sacrifice 100 young boys and girls.
The Demon Lord also declared war on Tingyan directly. A maid was found murdered in her mansion early in the morning. When Tingyan woke up, she found that her hands were covered with blood. She wondered whether the demonic energy in her body had killed someone!
Episode 32
What I gave you is yours to do with as you will.
Tingyan secretly called her master to make a diagnosis. Indeed, the demonic energy in her demon core stirred up. Her master developed a temporary relief, but to completely get rid of the demonic energy, she had to get rid of all her cultivations that made her demon core inert. If she didn’t want to lose her cultivation, she had to strengthen the Spirit Fire inside of her (given by Jiao before he died). To strengthen the Spirit Fire, she had to burn it with her blood. Eventually, to completely suppress the demon core, she had to sacrifice her life.
In the morning, Tingyan had a chance to take a stroll with her future MIL. The Empress Dowager told her about Hu Shan Hall. That was the manor Ruling showed Tingyan last time. Both Emperor and Empress could enter and exit freely in the future. Tingyan realized Jiao had already planned this nineteen years ago, before his death. So he knew he would be born in a royal family Sima? Tingyan believed, if she could enter and leave freely, she could protect Jiao from the Demon Lord’s assassination.
Si Xian obtained a demon-revealing mirror given by the Demon Lord to reveal Tingyan as a demon. She tricked Tingyan with a letter that appeared to be from Nianjiu. Tingyan was attacked by the Demon Lord and passed out. When she woke up, she was beside Si Xian who was dead covered in blood. Of course, Tingyan was the sole suspect!
Tingyan was afraid that her demon core would kill Jiao, so she took the initiative to be imprisoned. Jiao didn’t believe that Tingyan was a demoness at all and wanted to take her out of the jail, but she refused. Instead, she had a freedom meeting Ruling to talk about business. Because of the human sacrifice, the Demon Lord’s cultivation increased greatly, and he brought severe drought to the kingdom. There was no harvest, and people starved everywhere. Tingyan also chose to stay in jail, to ignite the Spiritual Fire in her body to suppress her demon core. Although the pain was unbearable, the demon core in her body no longer encouraged her to do things she didn’t want to do.
Because Tingyan was in jail, Jiao ascended as the emperor by himself. Tingyan asked Ruling to ensure the safety and security of the ceremony. In addition, Ruling was also to lead several demon leaders to create rain in the country. Because the public now favored Jiao, his coming-of-age ceremony at age 20 went smoothly. The royal coming-of-age ceremony for a future emperor is to signify his entry into adulthood and readiness to inherit power.
Once the crown was placed on Jiao’s head, all of his previous memories were revived. He remembered everything, including his past lives with Tingyan. When the ceremony was completed, he summoned Nianjiu, who was elated that the Grandmaster was back. Jiao asked Nianjiu to create snow in the palace because, as a human, he could only conjure some low-level spells.
Tingyan was released from the Heavenly Prison. When she walked out, she saw that it was snowing outside. She suddenly realized that Jiao had returned. The two met again, and Jiao demonstrated his rejuvenation spell by blooming a flower. However, Tingyan was still angry. Why did he transfer his spiritual power to her at all costs, and was he not afraid that she would leave? Sima Jiao wiped away the tears on her face. He was willing to give it away, and how to deal with it was completely up to her. As long as Tingyan was happy, he felt it was worth it.

Episode 33
I want you to stay, I will find you
Jiao told Tingyan that there was an entrance to the Nine Nether Purgatory in the Hu Kingdom. The Demon Lord wanted to release the clansmen sealed in the Nine Nether Purgatory. Jiao wanted to seal him there. He purposely chose to be reincarnated in the Hu Kingdom, because the founder of the kingdom was from the Fengshan Clan. To restore his memory, Jiao cast a spell on the crown, so when he reached the age of crowning, he would definitely get all his memories back.
Jiao decided to find a chance to get rid of the Marquis of Nanyan as well as the Demon Lord. Tingyan proposed that they get married, and definitely, the occasion would lure out the enemies. Jiao agreed. Tingyan had her own reason. Because of igniting the Spiritual Fire every day in her body, she became weak. She didn’t know how long she could last. Besides, Tingyan had dreamed of modern-day events. It seemed that she was rescued after a car accident. After waking up, she was very sad and worried that her return to the modern world was getting closer and closer. Perhaps on the day of sealing the Demon Lord, her spiritual power would also disappear. So, she wanted to give Jiao some sweet memories.
Finally, the day of the wedding arrived. Their immortal friends also attended the wedding. It was a solemn and joyful ceremony. On their wedding night, Tingyan took out the wedding rings she had prepared a long time ago. He knew them as couples’ rings, but at this time, they were wedding rings. They put the rings on the other party’s fingers, kissed, and consummated their marriage.
The next day, after the royal wedding, there would be a royal worship ceremony. Marquis Nanyang arranged the rebellion and sent many assassins to kill Jiao. He took the jade seal, but it was snatched away by the Demon Lord. Tingyan fought with the Demon Lord, while Jiao tried to knock the sense of Marquis Nanyan, but he stabbed Jiao. Seeing this, Tingyan killed the marquis. Jiao led the Demon Lord into the entrance, and together they sealed the Demon Lord. Tingyan fainted due to excessive strength loss.
Tingyan knew her time was up. She confessed her love in tears to Jiao. She mentioned the other world where she came from, where couples only got to love each other for decades. She was grateful that she got to love him for three lifetimes. Tingyan’s body flew into the air, and Jiao shouted.
Zou Yan, that was Tingyan’s name in the real world, woke up in the modern era, on a hospital bed in the ER. The doctor said she only had a mild concussion, and she could be discharged after she woke up. Thinking that what she had experienced before might have been a dream, she had no choice but to cheer up and face reality. Life moved on.
When Zou Yan was discharged, her boss called her to go back to the office. She urged her to attend the proposal meeting that would be held this afternoon and meet Mr. Wei from Sanshan Tech in person before 6:30 pm. Don’t be late, since he has a flight tonight. This was her last chance.
What I liked about this part was Zou Yan was no longer a “salted fish” aka a slacker, after her adventure in the cultivation world, whether it was a dream or not. She didn’t succumb to deep sorrow because of her ‘parting’ with Jiao. We watched her hurry to attend the meeting. The place must be far away, because she took a subway, a taxi, and even a public bike when her taxi couldn’t go anywhere during a traffic jam. Unfortunately, she was still too late.
When the meeting was over, Mr. Wei was still sitting in the conference room. His assistant asked if any proposal was good enough. He asked if other companies would present. His assistant said there was one more, and he asked the person in charge, Zou Yan, to come before 6:30 pm. Mr. Wei looked at his watch. It was past time.
As he walked out, Zou Yan went up. The conference room was empty. She came out with her head down and sat on the steps to rest in despair. She couldn’t help but wish she could have Spirit Dew now. It was the warm drink made by her master from the Serene Vale Sect. Then she lamented that the Spirit Dew was just a dream. A long dream in which she couldn’t tell the difference between dream and reality. Mr Wei stopped drinking his coffee. Did he hear her voice?
At this moment, someone was walking down the staircase slowly and stopped next to Zou Yan. She raised her head, and… wait… Sima Jiao??? Zou Yan stopped in awe and blurted: “I found you again.” Mr Wei smiled slightly and asked, “Do you know me?” Zou Yan gave him a bright smile, “Of course I do!” Mr Wei smiled again.
By the way, his full name was Wei Jiao.
THE END.
Every lonely journey ends in a fated encounter.

Conclusion
How did we, as viewers, perceive this ending? Is it a happy ending (because she met Sima Jiao again in modern times) or an open ending (is he Sima Jiao, his look-alike, or his reincarnation)? Is it a sad ending (because it’s only a dream) or a bittersweet ending (bitter for Sima Jiao because Tingyan died, but back in the modern world, she met his look-alike)?
The novel ending was definitely different: it’s a happy ending, and Tingyan didn’t return to the modern world but stayed with Sima Jiao in the cultivation world (mortal world).
Because of the Chinese censorship agency requirement, the story in When Destiny Brings the Demon ( 献鱼 ) was changed from a true time travel to merely a dream. Or is it only a dream?
