Introduction
From what we read in the third part, Filter: Drama Recap Episodes 17 to 24, Cheng Cheng and Tang Qi becoming a couple is just around the corner. However, with eight more episodes to go what can go wrong? Let’s continue with the last part of this recap series.
Drama Recaps Episodes 25 to 32
Episode 25
After tricking the security guards with their young appearances, finally they’re able to escape from them. While drinking, Cheng Cheng finds out that the reason he said she was ugly at the reunion party is because of her cheap makeup. He liked Su Miao’s and Fang Jin’s good personalities which are hers: kind, cheerful, optimistic, and hard-working. He asks her to like him again.
Suddenly thunders and lightning, time for an update! Cheng Cheng’s face flickers, young and old. Tang Qi hugs her to block her face from people. Tang Qi confesses that he has low EQ, is awkward with words, is strict with work, and is stubborn. His colleagues don’t want to be close to him and he has genetic eye problems, After they’re willing to accept their imperfections and each other’s can they be together.
The bracelet is updating so Cheng Cheng’s face is stuck in an old lady’s face. No wonder she often takes sick leave, he thinks she is weak. They will have a dinner with Jiang Xi Zhen. At first, Cheng Cheng doesn’t want to go but Tang Qi says this is her first project she’s leading it. After dinner, Tang Qi offers Cheng Cheng to stay the night at his place instead of Lin Yuan’s because he now can be a safe haven for her when she’s stuck in her transformation update. She texts Lin Yuan who happens to be at Cheng Cheng’s place with Mom, Dad, and Qing Li around her. The whole family knows that Cheng Cheng and Tang Qi get together!
The next day, the bracelet is upgraded and Cheng Cheng returns to normal. Now there is Inner Monologue as a new feature, Cheng Cheng can’t see the feature so she thinks it doesn’t apply to her but in fact, Tang Qi can see all her thoughts. After teasing her he reads that she wonders what a passionate kiss feels like. She can also read her thoughts on the mirror based on the feature set. They finally have a proper passionate kiss!
Episode 26
Now that Cheng Cheng and Tang Qi are officially together, time for work and secret dates! The actress Bai Ming Zhu agrees to work with Qian Dou Ji, however, she is a perfectionist so everyone has to work overtime to achieve the perfect result. Now the caring bf Tang Qi pulls Cheng Cheng to an empty room to give her a pair of flat sneakers and they end up kissing. A colleague suddenly bursts in and sees Tang Qi kissing a broom! Huahaha!
When Tang Qi sends Cheng Cheng home after work, her parents are peeking from upstairs. She feels they’re strange and calls Lin Yuan who’s at home watching a movie with Gu Yu. Cheng Cheng reports to Lin Yuan that she and Tang Qi already kissed, twice, and Lin Yuan feels shy since she and Gu Yu haven’t kissed yet. She and Gu Yu end up kissing instead of watching the movie.
At the D-Day of the promo live with Bai Ming Zhu, the holography projection is broken. It supposedly shows the 22-year-old Bai Ming Zhu and the 44-year-old Bai Ming Zhu and they will dance together with the 66-year-old Bai Ming Zhu. The filming crew can’t fix that special equipment and a technician is on the way in 30 minutes. Since they don’t have time to wait, Cheng Cheng and Tang Qi transform into the 22-year-old and the 44-year-old versions and they sing and dance together with the actress. Only Gu Yu, who knows about the bracelet technology, knows about it.
The promo event is a success so Tang Qi, Cheng Cheng, Gu Yu, and Lin Yuan celebrate by eating hotpot together. Gu Yu admits although Cheng Cheng explained the process, he was still shocked to see Tang Qi turned into a woman. They congratulate each couple: the enemies-to-lovers Gu Yu and Lin Yuan, and the couple who have gone through many ‘reincarnations’ Tang Qi and Cheng Cheng.
Tang Qi and Cheng Cheng also have announced their coupledom at work. The coworker who broke the holography projection last time is grateful to Cheng Cheng so he wants to introduce his single male friends to her. Tang Qi is jealous and he comes by and says to the colleague that he leaves his girlfriend in the break room and Cheng Cheng introduces him as her boyfriend. Later, they go to dinner and happen to meet their colleagues. They finally eat together as a group. Tang Qi is drunk so she sends him back home. He ends up clinging to her in bed.
Episode 27
The next morning, Tang Qi’s mother suddenly shows up and is happy seeing a woman’s shoes. When Tang Qi is about to introduce Cheng Cheng, the alpaca shows up and calls Mom “Mrs. Tang”. Tang Qi says this is the alpaca he and Cheng Cheng raise together. Then Cheng Cheng changes to Sheng Tang and Tang Qi has to explain that he is a friend, not his gf. Cheng Cheng changes to Fang Jin, who says Sheng Tang and she is studying alpaca hair together. Tang Qi lies that Cheng Cheng is embarrassed to meet Mom because the alpaca kicked her so her face is swollen. Somehow the bracelet system is very unstable. When Mom goes home Cheng Cheng changes to Tang Qi before back to herself.
Because Cheng Cheng spent the night with Tang Qi, Qing Li called and ordered her to come for dinner with Tang Qi, no negotiation. Tang Qi worries that Cheng Cheng’s parents won’t like him so Gu Yu gives him a bunch of recipe books to study because the parents are good cooks, especially Dad. Mom sends Cheng Cheng to buy vinegar while they talk to Tang Qi. On her way back Cheng Cheng is eating ice cream and a neighbor screams seeing her. She comes back and nobody notices her, or hears her. She texts Tang Qi saying that she’s invisible now! Tang Qi then goes back saying there’s an urgent matter at work. Cheng Cheng texts them stating she has to go on a business trip for a few days. Cheng Cheng takes the opportunity to eat and her parents are scared to see a chicken leg floating in the air. Tang Qi says he performed a magic trick. Cheng Cheng comes home with Tang Qi. They decide to look for the old lady who sells the flower the next day.
Episode 28
This episode is serious and a bit sad. Cheng Cheng is still invisible for the entire episode. Cheng Cheng has a problem looking by herself since she’s invisible. She’s being smashed by people and no taxi wants to take invisible order. Tang Qi tries to find the flower seller but nobody knows her. I wonder how he can know what the lady looks like. The police find info that the lady has been dead two years ago. Since the lady gave the bracelet to Cheng Cheng a few months ago, it means someone used her face and/or body. Cheng Cheng tries to take off the bracelet but it doesn’t want to come off, she even hurts herself when trying to break it with a hammer.
Tang Qi almost loses Cheng Cheng when she’s knocked out with a soccer ball. He can’t see her but her phone is on the ground. Tang Qi takes off his glasses. He’s a tetrachromat, which means without glasses that stabilize his vision, everything is glaring but he can see more colors. Finally, he sees Cheng Cheng lying in the intersection almost getting hit by a car. Tang Qi flies to the front of the car making the driver angry as he wants to die.
Gu Yu and Lin Yuan are the only ones informed about Cheng Cheng’s condition. Her family only knows that she’s on a business trip, and her coworkers only know that she’s on sick leave. Not until her father falls in the bathroom. Qing Li is shocked to know her sister’s invisibility.
Episode 29
Eventually, Mom and Dad have to be informed that their daughter is invisible. She can only communicate using the whiteboard. She blames herself for wanting to keep using the bracelet to be someone else. Not until she becomes invisible that she realizes being herself is the most important thing. Mom thinks it’s her fault because subconsciously thinks Qing Li is more beautiful than Cheng Cheng. Lin Yuan apologizes to Cheng Cheng since she always tells Cheng Cheng to dress up and she dresses down for Cheng Cheng. Qing Li apologizes too, since she knows she’s more beautiful thus puts too much pressure on her sister. Cheng Cheng thinks that it’s not their fault she doesn’t have self-confidence. The girls slept together for the first time.
In the morning, Tang Qi texts Cheng Cheng to meet. He takes out a box of Rupert’s Tears, which he made specifically for her. These items are made of melted glass dripping into water. It’s very hard and will not be damaged easily, but as long as it is gently crushed, it will burst instantly. When she encounters danger, crush one, and he will find her based on the flash of glass. In the West people regard this as a love token. He then proposes to her. She agrees.
In the evening, everyone gathers for dinner. The bracelet suddenly rings. What? Someone calls Cheng Cheng through the bracelet! When Cheng Cheng answers, the voice of the old flower seller is on the other line. Do you still want the bracelet? No, Cheng Cheng answers. The lady asks her to come to the usual place where they met before. Tang Qi and Cheng Cheng go to meet the lady and the time they see her is also the time Cheng Cheng becomes visible. The lady says after all the upgrades the bracelet has become more powerful. Cheng Cheng still refuses it. She easily takes off the bracelet and returns it. The lady then bids goodbye and rides her bike leaving the flowers! When Cheng Cheng who the lady is, she doesn’t answer, just waves her hand and there is also another bracelet on her wrist! Cheng Cheng and Tang Qi then return happily to the rest who are waiting anxiously.
Episode 30
After dinner, they take pictures together. Cheng Cheng posts pictures of her and Tang Qi on Moments and alumni groups. At first, she is tempted to edit the photos using Auto Beauty Filter, but then she realizes she wants to be herself, so she sends the photos. Many people congratulated but there were also negative comments that Cheng Cheng photoshopped it and that someone as outstanding as Tang Qi looks at Cheng Cheng. Lin Yuan is very angry and retorts the negative messages one by one. She ends up arguing with Gu Yu.
Now we know why Lin Yuan becomes sensitive, she finds out that she’s pregnant. Duh, I don’t understand the drama logic. If a couple decides they just want dating not marriage, don’t they need to consider using good protection while having sex? Cheng Cheng takes her to the doctor secretly since Lin Yuan doesn’t want Gu Yu to know. Lin Yuan is 6 weeks pregnant. Although the doctor suggests Lin Yuan to keep the child, if she doesn’t want it, the abortion has to be done before 14 weeks of pregnancy. Unfortunately, when Lin Yuan and Cheng Cheng walk out of the OBGYN clinic, they see Gu Yu taking his mom to the doctor. Gu Yu sees Cheng Cheng immediately and hides a brochure. He sees the same brochure in the hands of other women later and when he asks, they say it’s a brochure for pregnancy.
Episode 31
Qian Dou Ji will expand to open physical stores and many preparations need to be done, including having more variety of makeup. Tang Qi developed several varieties and wants Cheng Cheng to try so she comes without makeup. Gu Yu sees it and talks seriously to the couple about Cheng Cheng not wanting to put makeup on. He thinks Cheng Cheng is pregnant (because she was holding the pregnancy brochure when he met them yesterday). Tang Qi and Cheng Cheng are both confused, how did she get pregnant? Apparently, they haven’t done the deed… Gu Yu leaves happily thinking he made the couple honest to each other. Cheng Cheng tells Tang Qi that Lin Yuan is pregnant but she hasn’t decided to keep the baby or not. So Gu Yu cannot know.
The four of them are supposed to have dinner at Lin Yuan’s house but Tang Qi tells Gu Yu he and Cheng Cheng won’t come and for Gu Yu to have a proper talk with Lin Yuan. Gu Yu comes to Lin Yuan’s house and tells her that Cheng Cheng is pregnant. Qing Li happens to overhear that sentence when she drops by to leave food for Lin Yuan. She tells her parents so Mom calls Cheng Cheng to come with Tang Qi immediately. The family sit the two down. Mom asks when they’re gonna marry. Cheng Cheng says she’s too you to marry, there are still plenty of time. Mom says the child can’t wait. Qing Li overheard Gu Yu told Lin Yuan. Cheng Cheng hurriedly say she’s not pregnant but don’t want to say who. Finally, Tang Qi being honest saying that Lin Yuan is pregnant but doesn’t want to let Gu Yu knows. The news that their daughter is not pregnant doesn’t relieve them tho, Mom and Dad want to go to Lin Yuan’s house to talk to them, right now! Qing Li uses the alarm glitch in her car to stall Mom and Dad till it’s too late for them to go to Lin Yuan’s house.
Luckily they don’t go to Lin Yuan’s house, because she finally tells Gu Yu about her pregnancy. She doesn’t have a confidence to be a good mother. Gu Yu says that they have been together for so long and get along well. If we don’t have confidence about tomorrow let’s live day by day, then we can think about the future.
Episode 32
So Lin Yuan decides to keep the baby.
Cheng Cheng takes Tang Qi to the first time they met again. No, not as Su Miao. It’s the bench where they sat together with their backs to each other and strangers. She saw a stack of resumes, so she thought he was struggling looking for a job, too. She said something about tough life and offered a can of beer but he kept drinking his coffee. He then left the Akira Kurozawa autobiography and a makeup gift to quietly console her.
Lin Yuan and Cheng Cheng’s mom go shopping for baby’s clothes and meet Gu Yu’s mom. Cheng Cheng’s mom asks if they should escape but Lin Yuan thinks it’s not necessary and says hi to Gu Yu’s mom. The three then go shopping together. The incidental reunion is arranged by Cheng Cheng and Gu Yu.
Tang Qi wants to propose to Cheng Cheng again, because last time he proposed when she was invisible, he couldn’t see her. So he set up a tent in his yard painstakingly. Before he wants to take out the ring box, she comes with a gift first. Luckily it’s not a ring, but three SIM cards belong to Su Miao, Fang Jin, and Quan Sheng Tang. Tang Qi takes out his box but the tent collapses, lol. They hurriedly get out of the tent but he loses the ring. While he’s frantically looking for the ring he sees it on her right ring finger. She not only found the ring, but the box with his ring also, so she proposes to him. They kiss a long kiss and the kissing scene moves to their wedding scene. Gu Yu and Lin Yuan get the wedding bouquet, her tummy is big. Everyone is there, including Dr. Fang Jin and Jiang Xi Zhen. Tang Qi and Cheng Cheng play arm wrestling, and poor Tang Qi is of course loses. The reward and punishment, the winner gets to kiss the loser.

Conclusion
Yay, we finally end this fantastic romance with a wedding! It’s quite rare romantic dramas end with a wedding or even having a family, so I appreciate the Filter ( 滤镜 ) production team taking the extra mile to set up a wedding celebration. I hope you enjoy the drama as well as the recap articles!
