Episode 25
That was a trap set by Simu, Yan Ke, and Jiang Ai to capture Yan Zhang. But before Simu could interrogate Yan Zhang, Yan Ke killed her. He didn’t want Yan Zhang to spill the beans about his involvement. Yan Ke also wanted to kill Bai Sanxing. Instinctively, Jiang Ai blocked Yan Ke’s sword and was injured instead. Simu appeared to rebuke Yan Ke and took Jiang Ai and Bai Sanxing away.
Later, when Simu visited Jiang Ai, her main question was why Jiang Ai saved Bai Sanxing despite her hate against her ex-lover. In the past, Bai Sanxing had locked her up and controlled her, so normally, Jiang Ai hated him very much. However, when she saw Yan Ke launched at Bai Sanxing, she couldn’t let him die in front of her. Simu concluded that Jiang Ai still cared for Bai Sanxing deeply.
Simu thought about Duan Xu while toying with the carousel lantern he gave her. That thought of Jiang Ai’s care for Bai Sanxing led her to contact Feng Yi, and tell him that she wanted to visit him in Nandu. Of course, Feng Yi was ecstatic. Before they talked, Feng Yi’s maid came in and insisted Feng Yi go to bed. Although she was rude, Simu let her be. She could tell that the maid cared for her master deeply.
Episode 26
Although Duan Xu seemed to be doing nothing, he was secretly active in the political world. He had an ally, Luo Xian, who worked in the Pleasure House but secretly gathered intelligence and other missions. Luo Xian had just returned from Duan Xu’s task to warn his enemy, Fang Xianye, of an assassination attempt.
Simu “worked” in the same place, too, but her mission was gathering people’s obsession and tragic stories for her secret weapon. Simu and Duan Xu had a near-miss encounter a few times already. Although it was a public place, Simu couldn’t find much obsession there. Feng Yi told her that the palace would be a good place for collecting people’s obsessions. He seemed suspiciously connected to the spiritual world.
Simu spiritually tagged along with Feng Yi, who was invited to the banquet as the National Master. Duan Xu was there too, according to his father’s arrangement. Three of bride candidates were there. I wonder if Simu did it on purpose because she was jealous?
Episode 27
When Duan Xu met Wang Suyi and her brother, he spotted a woman carrying a red umbrella and a sugar figurine, which was very familiar to him. He ran out and approached the woman, thinking that she was Simu. She was not, no she was. Simu disguised herself to find the wandering spirit or Song Xingyu. Soon, Feng Yi and his maid approached them and took Simu away. Duan Xu was very surprised that the Great Prophet and Simu knew each other intimately. But he was more surprised that he could recognize her despite her disguise. In fact, he had recognized her on other occasions as well. Duan Xu decided that he would have no one but her; that was his wish.
Simu resumed her business, looking for obsession, but didn’t find much despite the prosperous city’s condition. She suspected that Song Xingyu suppressed it. Yan Ke reported to Simu that three layers of unknown seals have appeared in the Void Valley. He wondered if she kept Bai Sanxing there. Simu said she kept her father’s belongings there, and offered him to check it out if he didn’t believe her. While they were there, Duan Xu suddenly came to visit and asked for Simu. Yan Ke purposely declared that he had booked Simu. Duan Xu recognized his voice and barged in. They ended up fighting, while Simu went into hiding. Duan Xu’s father was angry at his reckless son fighting over a courtesan. He punished Duan Xu harshly.
Later, Duan Xu went to visit Wang Suyi to propose. Duan Xu confessed that he loved someone else, but their parents arranged their marriage. He then went to kidnap Fang Xianye. Wait, it was a staged kidnapping. It turned out Fang Xianye and Duan Xu were besties! In the past, Duan Xu rescued Fang Xianye when he was discarded by Duan Xu’s father and hunted down. Since then, they worked together to root out corruption, although they seemed to be in opposing factions. Fang Xianye’s kidnapping by Luo Xian last time was also an act, since he knew her.
Duan Xu summoned Simu, who was pissed off that she was called. She was even angrier when Simu requested her to attend his wedding in exchange for the other sense. Later, Duan Xu met with his friends Fang Xianye and Wang Jin. They were the top scorer in the imperial exams, and they secretly worked together for the Great Liang.
Duan Xu was called by Feng Yi. He gave Duan Xu an intelligence message about Consort Yu. Moreover, Feng Yi told Duan Xu about his Great Ancestor. Feng Yi was the 20th generation from Simu’s uncle and aunt. He told Duan Xu about Simu’s diary, that she was used to be a lively girl. When her father died, time stopped and her heart froze. Feng Yi asked Duan Xu to help his Great Ancestor’s frozen heart move again. Before leaving, Duan Xu asked Feng Yi for a blessed flower.
Episode 29
As per the intelligence message, Wang Jin, Duan Xu’s friend, executed an imperial decree to seal the Fifth Prince’s mansion. He was suspected of getting involved in the horse graft scandal. The Fifth Prince didn’t care, but his mother, Consort Yu, was panicked. Her father, Duke Pei, didn’t want to support her anymore. It turned out, the Prince’s body was possessed by the bratty spirit Song Xingyu.
Song Xingyu wanted to escape, but Simu, Feng Yi and Ziji showed up. Despite being sickly, Feng Yi turned out to have a powerful spirit to confiscate Song Xingyu’s spiritual weapon. Wang Jin and Duan Xu exposed the horse administration corruption. The Fifth Prince supposedly committed suicide to apologize.

Duan Xu arrived at the bride’s home and went in. Soon, something strange happened. An assassin pulled out the bride and kidnapped her. Duan Xu came out, wounded, and declared that the assassin was a spy from the North Chong seeking revenge. Simu was curious about the situation. Although she didn’t have power during the exchange, she ordered Feng Yi to follow the assassin. Feng Yi already knew what had happened, but he had to take her anyway. It turned out that it was Duan Xu staged act.
The bride, Wang Suyi, loved the fragrant seller, A Xuan. Duan Xu helped them elope because Wang Suyi was a noble lady and A Xuan a commoner. Simu intercepted the bride’s carriage in the forest. Even Meng Wan and Xia Qingsheng, Duan Xu’s subordinates, escorted them. Feng Yi gave his blessing and let them go.
Back in the Wang mansion, Duan Xu continued with his act. He vowed he would not marry until he reclaimed the seventeen provinces and defeated North Chong.
Episode 30
Duan Xu invited Simu to a place he had reconstructed as her childhood home. His photographic memory remembered all the details from her father’s spiritual consciousness when he and Simu were in the Void forest. Now that she could see the colors of her childhood, she was ecstatic and grateful to Duan Xu for what he had done. She accepted his confession and agreed be his lover. Duan Xu used the blessed flower to give Simu a sense of touch and kissed her. Simu felt like a gust of strong wind flew out of her heart.
Remember, I told you last time that we would see Lu Da from North Chong, again? He was Duan Xu’s former colleague in the All Knowing assassination group. His boss confronted him because his father colluded with the evil spirit Song Xingyu. Lu Da chose to relinquish his position as the Young Priest rather than execute his father. His father got angry and killed Lu Da’s boss. Of all people… here came Yan Ke! He persuaded Yan Ke to join him. Wait… his late father had worked with Yan Ke, not Song Xingyu? Hmmm… However, Lu Da refused. Yan Ke was confident that sooner or later, Lu Da would join him. Lu Da was accused of killing his boss and was exiled.
While she didn’t have power, Simu chose to stay at her childhood home, painting, crafting, etc. Duan Xu took Chen Ying to reunite with Simu. He also introduced his sister Jingyuan to Simu, whom she recognized as the lady who bought fragrance ingredients last time. Chen Ying was also informed about the fake wedding. She questioned what would happen to Duan Xu and Simu. Everyone knew he was married to Wang Suyi. Duan Xu said he would marry into Simu’s clan as a maternal husband.

When their father took Xianye as Duan Xu’s decoy in the past, he and Jingyuan had been raised as siblings. She didn’t know Xianye used to be her “brother” and saw him as the family enemy. Xianye refused to answer Duan Xu’s question, citing that they were enemies in front of people.
While being weak, Simu got sick and was feeling down because of human weakness. Duan Xu took care of her and invited her to watch him play ball in a match. Yan Ke was secretly watching these lovebirds, though!
