What I enjoyed most about the drama wasn’t the workplace drama or the everyday challenges—it was watching these two slowly grow closer and become each other’s source of support.
Their relationship develops naturally through shared struggles, small acts of kindness, and moments of genuine understanding. Instead of relying on over-the-top misunderstandings or dramatic twists, the drama lets their connection build gradually, making their romance feel both relatable and heartfelt.
That’s why I decided to focus on this couple in a highlight series. While the drama covers many aspects of modern life, I wanted to focus on the journey of Qian Fei and Li Yifei—the sweet moments, the emotional conversations, the playful chemistry, and the unwavering support they give each other. Synopsis
Qian Fei, a junior investment banking employee, had her life carefully planned out and believed she was on the path to happiness. Episode 1
This first episode establishes the exact circumstances that bring Qian Fei and Li Yifei together as roommates. They had briefly crossed paths when they bumped into each other here and there, unaware that their lives would connect in the future.
Qian Fei just secured an apartment she wanted to share with her longtime boyfriend, Wang Ruohai. But he cheated her with Liao Shiyu, a rich girl who had liked him since high school.
Meanwhile, Li Yifei was a wealthy second-generation heir who wanted to prove himself. He failed to secure funding for his startup project, so he sold his luxurious apartment. Upon learning that they would have to rent a place in the future, his girlfriend, Gui Lili, was unhappy.
Episode 2
Qian Fei officially broke up with Wang Ruohai at the beginning of this episode. Good riddance! But she was broken-hearted, she ended up collapsed at the curbside, drunk. Several bad guys wanted to take her away, but Li Yifei happened to be driving by. He quickly stopped and scared them away. Qian Fei passed out from being drunk, so Li Yifei didn’t have any other choice but to let her sleep in his car. He left her a note that the car would automatically lock itself when she left.
Qian Fei decided to rent out one of the bedrooms to help cover the mortgage. Li Yifei’s girlfriend, Gui Lili, was looking for an apartment for her and Li Yifei. Seeing that Qian Fei’s apartment was brand new, she quickly signed the agreement and paid the deposit, without informing Li Yifei.
When Li Yifei and Gui Lili met their new landlady, Qian Fei, Li Yifei naturally disliked her because of their previous bad encounters. However, Qian Fei already used the deposit money to pay part of the mortgage. They had no choice but to move in. Nobody was happy in this situation.
Qian Fei tried to get a refund from the hotel where she rented for her wedding venue, but the deposit was non-refundable. Stressed, suddenly she had a severe menstrual cramp and sat down in the hotel lobby. Li Yifei happened to pass by (again, lol!) after a business meeting. Although she refused his help, he took her home in a taxi. He even stopped by a pharmacy to buy her medicine and a heating pad. Aww!
Episode 3
After returning to the apartment, they found it was flooded with water, thanks to Gu Lili, who had forgotten to turn off the kitchen faucet when she left. The apartment was a mess with ruined carpet and stuff. When Gui Lili came home, Li Yifei lost his temper and yelled at her for her carelessness. Gui Lili was angry, too, because she was humiliated in front of a stranger and left.
When Qian Fei went to the mall to return her engagement ring, she saw Gui Lili talking to a man sweetly and even linked her arm with his. Qian Fei felt bad for Li Yifei.
Qian Fei was laid off from the bank. Since the apartment mortgage was paid partially, she should be able to hold on for two or three months. She just needs to find a new job quickly.
Gui Lili asked Qian Fei to tell Li Yifei that she wanted to break up. Qian Fei awkwardly told Li Yifei about it. He just let out a bitter smile. Feeling pity, Qian Fei offered him dinner split with a fee.
Li Yifei’s father, Li Qiansheng, wanted his son to return to the company, so he sabotaged Li Yifei’s business. He secretly had someone follow and film Li Yifei, which happened when he took the drunk Qian Fei home in his red sports car last time. Li Qiansheng sent the video to Gui Lili, who sent it to Qian Fei. Since Qian Fei didn’t know that Li Yifei was her savior that night, she was confused and asked Li Yifei about it. Li Yifei didn’t know how to explain about his father and just asked Qian Fei to delete the video. Qian Fei refused. The two struggled over the phone, and Qian Fei accidentally fell into Li Yifei’s arms. They felt an electric shock-like awkwardness and quickly separated. Haha.
Episode 4
After a big argument, Li Yifei and Gui Lili broke up. After calming down, Li Yifei immediately threw himself into work. Qian Fei saw that Li Yifei had locked himself in his room and wasn’t coming out. Thinking he was trapped in the pain of heartbreak and unable to recover, she cooked a meal for him.
Qian Fei went job hunting and was repeatedly rejected. Li Yifei saw she was browsing for jobs on the internet and suggested that he could hire her to do cleaning work for 100 yuan per hour. Qian Fei was under huge mortgage pressure and couldn’t afford to reject money. Li Yifei also transferred compensation for the water-damaged floor.
Episode 5
As per Li Yifei’s suggestion to work under her idol, Qian Fei went to her old company to talk to Director Fang Yun. However, she was disheartened by her enemy at her former job, so she returned home. It was already late when she returned home, but the apartment was pitch dark. Li Yifei suddenly popped his head out, wearing a facial mask, scaring Qian Fei.
It turned out Li Yifei had bought a high-power electric oven without even telling her, and had also ordered a dishwasher. Because of the oven, the power had tripped. As Qian Fei switched the breaker back on, someone knocked on the door. An electrician was on the door for an emergency service. The electrician charged 200 just for showing up, and Li Yifei paid him just like that. Li Yifei was completely clueless about basic life skills. Qian Fei explained some basics of household maintenance, but Li Yifei thought it was a waste of time. Once Li Yifei was in a good mood, Qian Fei made her request, pointing out his expertise. As he read through the document, he became deeply absorbed. The comprehensive data and detailed findings sparked an idea to devise a solution to the ongoing issue in his business. Once he called his subordinate to coordinate their team’s next steps, he gave highly professional and constructive revisions to Qian Fei, who immediately set to work.
Watching her work, Li Yifei remarked that if she had always possessed such strong execution skills, she would not have spent years stuck in her previous position. Qian Fei admitted she had wasted opportunities in the past for the sake of her former relationship and home life. By dawn, the report was complete, and Qian Fei found Li Yifei asleep on the sofa. Aww, he was waiting for her!
Qian Fei had no idea that if she joined Fang Yun’s project team, she would work on the Shanlifang project. Her ex-boyfriend worked at the Shanlifang project. In fact, his new girlfriend was the Shanlifang heiress!
When Qian Fei’s friend Dang Yu left Qian Fei’s research report on Fang Yun’s office desk, Qian Fei’s enemy, Xinyao, saw it and secretly took it away. Luckily, with Li Yifei’s urging, the next day Qian Fei handed a copy of her research report directly to Fang Yun.

This Fang Yun woman seemed shady. During the business meeting with her company, Hejing Securities, Li Yifei saw through Fang Yun’s scheme. If the signed the agreement, then when Shanlifang eventually collapsed, Zhizhong, his company, would become the scapegoat. He told his assistant to stall for time while he slipped away.
Fang Yun also used the data from Qian Fei’s research report during the business meeting. Fang Yun offered a financial bonus. When Qian Fei said that she was not doing it for the bonus. Fang Yun said she knew Qian Fei wanted to use this report to prove her abilities and return to Hejing. But it was still not enough to get into her project team.
Li Yifei analyzed Fang Yun’s mindset and concluded that she was probably trying to force Qian Fei to look for data from three years ago. Back then, Shanlifang was still a small company in Chengdu. So if Qian Fei wanted the data, she would have to go to Chengdu.
To help Qian Fei, Li Yifei decided to go to Chengdu as well. Qian Fei ‘unexpectedly’ ran into Li Yifei at the airport. He even voluntarily moved from business class to sit beside her. Qian Fei continued studying and preparing on the plane until she became so tired that she fell asleep on Li Yifei’s shoulder.
After landing, the two parted ways. However, both eventually ended up in Taoyuan Village. They tried to persuade Shanlifang’s former auditor, Xin You. Xin You refused to give Shanlifang’s financial records to them. Since there was no motel or hotel in the village, Qian Fei and Li Yifei pitched a tent in the mountains. At night, they helped the villagers rescue Xin You’s son who had autism and went missing.
Episode 8
Since the man they were looking for refused to cooperate, Qian Fei and Li Yifei decided to go back to the city. Qian Fei offered to take the wheel, since Li Yifei was exhausted. He slept for two hours! When he finally opened his eyes, he gasped in terror as he saw the car heading straight for a muddy ditch! The car rolled over until it stopped completely.
To warm themselves in the chilly night, they ran around and did all kinds of funny movements. While moving around, they accidentally bumped into each other. Qian Fei almost fell if not caught by Li Yifei, causing the iconic romantic pose, and causing both of their hearts to flutter. Qian Fei quickly moved away and mocked Li Yifei for watching too many romantic dramas to cover up her own feelings.
After warm enough (especially with their romantic trope) Qian Fei and Liyifei went to sleep in their car. At daybreak, with the help of a kind passerby, they managed to push the car out and then hurried back to the city. On the way, Xin You voluntarily sent Shanfang’s financial documents to Qian Fei. He had been moved by the fact that Li Yifei and Qian Fei genuinely had helped his son.
Li Yifei returned to the apartment later than Qian Fei, because he was tricked by his father into seeing him. Qian Fei had already organized the research report and was impressed by her efficiency. He immediately began working on several areas that needed revision.
Another project coordination meeting between Hejing Securities and Zhizhong Construction was held. Li Yifei used his chance to request that Qian Fei be allowed to return to Hejing, since she collected the data. Fang Yun argued that if Qian Fei returned and Shanfang’s problems were exposed in the future, Liao Jinshan, Shangfang’s owner, would certainly blame Qian Fei. Li Yifei declared that he would be the one to reveal Shanfang’s issues. Fang Yun got exactly what she wanted—Zhizhong Construction would take the blame—so she agreed.
